So, as a coffee noob I recently purchased this machine from Starbucks for $450. Worth every penny. I am coffee stupid, so the whole pulling a shot of espresso just seemed to be a bridge to far (running a DNA sequence no problem, complex math no problem, getting the espresso to taste right... apparently beyond me). Anyways, This machine was setup in about 5 minutes, and produces a good espresso shot in about two minutes in the morning.
Thus perfect for the non coffee inclined. The steamer wand makes mochas a breeze, and cleaning is a snap. At $3 a cup out in the world, this machine should pay for itself relatively quickly. Oh, and it says one year warranty on the outside, but on the inside you'll find that Delonghi has increased this to two years.
For someone who wants a machine to grind well (conical burr), pour well (shot in 20 seconds) and Steam well (frother attachment) this this is a great machine.
Only one complaint. Would it kill them to add a bit of heft to the machine in the form of noise padding. It can be a bit (not nearly as bad as any other) but a bit loud.
