Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of DeLonghi EO1260 Stainless-Steel Toaster Oven with BroilerCustomer Review: Worst oven ever made! Summary: 1 Stars
This is by far the worst oven I have ever owned. For starters, the look in person is not as sleek as pictured. The metal was dull in spots and discolored if you looked closely. ( should've returned it then)
It is quite bulky on your counter, and I have a ton of counter space.
The buttons/dials are made of plastic-not metal and are very flimsy.
As far as cooking...well, if you like to wait 7-10 minutes to toast your english muffin, then go for it. The trays are so far away from the heating elements that it takes FOREVER for anything to toast/brown.
Plus, the entire time it is trying to toast, this annoying click..click.. click is reminding you what an idiot you were for purchasing this oven. It will drive you nuts the whole time it is toasting, as it clicks every second the dial turns.
The crumb tray is difficult to remove, leaving lots of crumbs in the unit because they bounced off during the removal attempt.
BTW...customer service is non-existent with this company. I tried to contact them regarding one of their other trays in an attempt to get the food closer to the elements, and what a waste of my time. They are rude, not educated on their own products, and then have the " oh well" attitude to boot.
Finally...the oven stopped working last week at almost the exact 1 year mark.
I was literally standing right in front of it when the lights just 'went out' and refused to come back on.
I was actually relieved....I practically ran to the garbage.
I now have purchased an Oster, and could not be happier.
If this oven were given to me for free, I would not accept it again, unless to sell on Ebay!
Customer Review: Died after less than a year. Summary: 1 Stars
The deLonghi toaster oven shown in this product description was purchased more than a year ago through Amazon (via an offsite vendor). The unit came damaged. Whether the damage was done in shipment or at the vendor there was no way to know. We contacted the vendor and were assured that this "refurbished" unit should work perfectly. (The wire racks would not fit in the side wall grooves.) After a month or two of trying and failing to get deLonghi to send a replacement unit, we "fixed" the problem ourselves by bending the racks outward so they would fit and not fall to the bottom of the unit. The vendor resolved their part of the issue by giving us a refund of part of the purchase price. Kudos to the vendor. The unit worked somewhat for the next several months but toasting was uneven, temperature regulation was problematic (we finally bought an oven thermometer and used that rather than the built in temperature settings.)
This morning the toaster oven died without any fanfare. It just stopped working: all buttons and dials were non-functional. The unit is out of warranty and the vendor appears to have stopped selling these ovens and will not service them. The unit will be consigned to a landfill and we'll look for a unit at a local outlet. No more shopping for expensive household items online. Don't buy this unit even if it's refurbished and guaranteed for life. It's not worth it.
Customer Review: Works, but very S-L-O-W toaster Summary: 3 Stars
We bought it for it's advertised features and looks that match our other appliances. We have had it for several years with no mechanical problems like others here have posted about. Like most toaster ovens, the exterior can get hot to the touch, so you do need to keep it away from little hands or other things that could get burned.
It works well as an oven for making biscuits etc. The crumb tray doubles as a baking tray and is easily removed for cleaning. Its large capacity holds a full-sized dinner plate and its warm setting does a good job at keeping food hot. We use this feature all the time when making a large batch of pancakes or waffles for the family. Keeps things warm before the kid's feeding frenzy begins.
Its large capacity easily holds 6 slices of mid-sized bread. But it is very S-L-O-W as a toaster. Very very S-L-O-W. And we frequently have to put it through a double cycle of medium to dark setting to even get the bread browned. The mechanical timer is very loud and sounds like an old-fashioned windup alarm clock (maybe that is a feature to let you know it's still toasting?).
Overall we're satisfied with it. The only real drawback we've found is just how slow it is as a toaster. They don't call it de-LONG-hi for nothing! ;-)
Customer Review: Best Looking Toaster Oven Ever! Summary: 5 Stars
I wasn't planning on buying yet another toaster oven for my home, but I ran into this Delonghi oven when I went looking for a toaster oven for my workplace. I ended up buying another one for my home because of its performance and great styling. It fits perfectly into a modern stainless steel accented kitchen. It is the best looking toaster oven ever, in my opinion; and it fits a 12" pizza pan due to the little semi-circle punchout area in the back. It is fairly large, which can be good or bad; but what good is a toaster oven that can basically only do toast! The old-fashioned clicking timer dial, that sounds a loud bell when your time is up; is kind of retro and actually useful. Complaints about its usefulness as an oven are misguided-it is very easy to learn how to operate the stay-on function. The bottom line is that you're going to burn out almost any toaster oven within 4-5 years, so why obsess on the long-term. This unit looks great, works great, and makes really good toasted bagels, pizza, chicken nuggets, and all the other things you buy a toaster oven for. Plus,I didn't want electronic timers and convection features offered on some more expensive models, that can often fail. What you have here is the highest incarnation of the classic electro-mechanical toaster oven.
Customer Review: Get your pliers ready! Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this model in 2007. I chose it for the stream-lined design, the stainless steel and its size. I have a lot of counter space, but I didn't want a bulky, massive looking appliance. I also thought that the size would be perfect for our family's needs.
You know how some things are pretty enough and yet when you look inside it's dark and ugly? I can confirm what some of the other reviewers are saying. This toaster has no light. The second switch is defective. It won't turn properly. Pliers have become my friend. It's also true that this toaster can get very, very hot. We had an incident where the interior also went up in flames. It's surprising that others have had this experience and there's no recall. Or maybe this shouldn't be surprising at all?! When the fire occurred the toaster was clean, no bits of old food or leftover oil from past usage. Nowadays I just pull the plug when I don't hear a ding.
I've put off purchasing a new one because we've been updating our kitchen and this has been the last on our long list. I usually donate items when I'm going for an upgrade but there's no way I'll be doing it with this one!
Not recommended. There are enough choices out there if you're in the market for a new toaster oven.
