Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of De'Longhi CGH800 Contact Grill and Panini PressCustomer Review: You will love this grill Summary: 5 Stars
We never have plain "sandwiches" any more, we have "Paninis!" Slice some sourdough bread or ciabatta or whatever you have, add lunch meat, cheese, spinach leaves, a few slices of red onion and/or roasted red peppers, a few basil leaves if you have them ... whatever ... add the top piece of bread, brush it with olive oil, and close the lid. The lid flexes to accept a relatively fat sandwich, but up to 1-1/2" thick works great. Grill till it is oozy and golden brown and voila! a gourmet sandwich in your own kitchen!
Also we make toasted bread to go with dinner ... any leftover bread will do ... just brush with olive oil or spread some butter and toast it crispy ... good with soup or any dinner. This is the greatest invention since sliced bread! :)
After trying ours, we bought two more for Christmas gifts this year.

Customer Review: Yummy! Summary: 5 Stars
This is an excellent panini maker! Makes what would normally be a basic, boring sandwich and makes it taste like a gourmet delicacy! I have had one for several years and recently purchased another as a gift because she wanted to steal mine ever since she had her very first panini! It is easy to use and easy to clean as well. It is attractive enough to leave on the counter top and does not need to be hidden. It has a light to let you know it is ready to use, and you can control the temp by a little knob depending on how you want it to cook. When I first got mine I wondered if I would use it often enough to justify the cost, and the answer turned out to be 'yes' I use it pretty regularly! You do have to use good bread though, I often use ciabatta bread that I have to slice myself... don't use Wonder bread or you will be seriously disappointed!
Customer Review: makes delicious sandwiches Summary: 4 Stars
DeLonghi CGH800-U Retro Panini Grill We used our new panini grill over the holidays when lots of family members were in and out. We had very good results making many different types of panini sandwiches. For the most part the grill produces evenly browned and melted delights. My only negative point with the grill is that the 'ready' light doesn't work so we have to guess when its hot enough. Its a fairly large appliance but we use it enough to have give it a spot on the counter. The directions that accompany the grill don't give a lot of information. The cookbook that was included has some good recipes but I've mostly just invented sandwiches to suit the personal tastes of the person for whom the panini is being prepared.
Customer Review: Excellent product Summary: 5 Stars
After reviewing all the offerings on Amazon, I chose this DeLonghi grill a few months ago and have not been disappointed. So far, I've used it mostly for grilled cheese, panini, etc. It heats up fast and cooks your sandwich to melty goodness very quickly. Grill area is plenty big, and lid is heavy enough to really squash your sandwich, leaving your bread crispy on the outside with a pleasing ribbed texture from the grill surface. The design is ultra-simple: just plug in to turn on, and adjust temp using the knob. Clean-up is easy; the surface truly is non-stick and you can just wipe off any leftover grease or crumbs with a paper towel. I have not yet used this for grilling meat or vegetables, but based on using it for other things I would expect it to perform well. A final bonus: it looks cute on the countertop.
Customer Review: Honestly, this panini press is great! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this panini press for my boyfriend for Christmas after weeks upon weeks of reading god knows how many reviews. This one received the best reviews of all that I read so I took a chance. I'm so glad I did because we both love it! I joke about stealing it for myself all the time. It heats up quickly, it cleans really easily with paper towel and water, and it makes a delicious sandwich. We personally love to make tuna panini with mozzarella and hots on italian rolls. The lack of an on/off switch isn't a huge deal, and none of the other presses I looked at had any either. These reviews are so helpful so I felt the need to write one myself! If you're on the fence about this, don't be. It's a great product and if I can think of anyone else that would put good use to it, I'd buy it again. It makes a great gift!
