Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of DeLonghi BCO70 Caffe Nabucco Espresso, Cappuccino, and Coffee BarCustomer Review: Dissapointing. Summary: 3 Stars
I got this machine for my birthday while I was living in the dorms at college. All of my friends and I were excited to have an espresso machine around for our all-nighters, but from the get go we couldn't get it to work properly, much less work well. The main attraction for us was that it had both drip coffee and espresso, but the espresso quite honestly never came out tasting good. We also had problems getting enough pressure to steam the milk. It would never go long enough to heat the milk, and we would have to throw our coffee in the microwave (yuck.)
The reason I'm giving this three stars is because the drip worked fine (all the three months I was willing to put up with this big machine in our room) and it's at a good price point.
Customer Review: You get what you pay for Summary: 3 Stars
I was very excited waiting for this machine to be delivered (bought on ebay), but was very disappointed when it did. The outside quality is very poor and the instruction manual is not helpful. The machine makes good drip coffee and espresso, but making the milk frother work takes time. Also there is an unidentified compartment above the milk frother (not mentioned in the manual but visible on the picture). I still have no idea what that's for. I tried to contact Delonghi Customer Service, but did not get a reply. The plus is that it's easy to clean and it has additional features such as flavor sensor. It's by far not the best coffee maker ever but good enough for the price. The mystery compartment still makes me a little nervous though.
Customer Review: DON'T Summary: 3 Stars
I have the previous model, 3 1/2 years now. The coffee maker is just fine, but that is not why I bought it. I have had to order parts for the steamer twice and as it happens the second time i have yet to be able to. They have been out of stock and after a year of trying I have given up. SInce and for about 4 months now the steamer has not worked well at all. I bouoght this machine for more than just plain cup of coffee and now I must resort to other methods to get my cappuccino.
When the machine worked it worked well, but once it started to have problems I have not been able to get any help.
I am looking to buy a new machine, but you can trust that DeLoghi will not be the brand.
Customer Review: Doesn't last Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this machine Christmas 2001, and it's already broken. It gets used once a day three to four times a week, and I've used the cappucino maker about three times in a little over a year. The warming plate is stone cold, and the machine doesn't even brew. When it was working, the gold filter regularly deposited grounds into the coffee, so it wasn't even an enjoyable cup back then. Cleanup is difficult too because the basket for the filter is next to impossible to replace once you've taken it out. You need a flashlight in order to see inside the machine to find the peg for the basket to catch and swing back into place. One of the worst purchases I've ever made.
Customer Review: Taking the "Espress" out of Espresso Summary: 3 Stars
Actually, for the money - less than $100 - you get what you pay for and about what you'd expect. The machine makes fine brewed coffee, and the espresso is acceptable too. And I'm hoping the ill-fitting plastic brew basket lasts at least a year.
My big complaint is that the machine is slooooooow. Making 4 cups of regular coffee takes twice as long as most comparable machines. Same with the espresso unit. AND, if the espresso blend is not medium grind (NOT espresso grind), you won't get anything at all -- a lesson I learned after returning first unit as 'defective.'
So, if you don't mind an extra wait, this unit - at this price - is fine.
