Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of DeLonghi BCO70 Caffe Nabucco Espresso, Cappuccino, and Coffee Bar

Customer Review: A decent value, if used correctly
Summary: 4 Stars

I had purchased the machine without reading the reviews as a gift for my mother, based on my luck with other DeLonghi products. On Christmas morning I got up early and made a pot of regular drip coffee. Good flavor, and the machine functioned as it should. Then my mother tried to make Cappucino, and had the same problem that some of your reviewers had, not enough steam to froth the milk. I then read some reviews and got a little worried about my purchase. She attempted to make another batch of Cappuccino while I was there and again had little steam pressure. I noticed that the knob was not fully set at cappuccino. I adjusted the knob, and Voila! Plenty of steam. I don't know if others' problems were caused by this but our machine makes good cappuccino and espresso. The drip coffee is excellent. I like the removable drip coffee reservoir, much easier than filling it up with a pot.

Customer Review: So close and yet so far

I'd have to agree with the reviewer who thought this was a terrific machine but seems to be built to spill. We have resorted to keeping a towel near the coffee maker because it is almost impossible NOT to spill while pouring hot coffee from the large glass carafe. BTW the carafe is now chipped and I am having a bear of a time finding a replacement carafe. we also bought a gold mesh filter which works great in this machine-IF it is bone dry before each use. If it's damp or if we forget to hand dry the coffee filter area, we end up with an overflow of hot water and coffee grounds on the counter.

Dear DeLonghi, please rethink the carafe pour spout and NEVER sell a product with removable parts that can not be easily replaced. The coffee is delicious, the machine looks very cool...just make it work better.

Customer Review: A great machine for a great price
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had this coffeemaker for over 2 years now, and I can honestly say that I haven't had any of the problems described by other reviewers. It's simply a fantastic coffee/espresso maker with no bells and whistles. It brews a great cup of coffee, and the espresso isn't too bad either. When I brew plain old Folgers coffee, guests rave and ask me what kind of coffee I'm brewing, thinking it's some specialty brand. I love that you can set it to slow brew by selecting the 5 cups or less option; sometimes I do it even when I'm brewing a whole pot to get a more full-strength coffee.

In 2 years of owning this, I've looked at fancier models with auto shut-offs, timers, etc, but I just can't bring myself to replace a machine that makes such excellent coffee. Highly recommended.

Customer Review: might as well take $99 and set it on fire

Got this machine as a gift, worked fine for about 3 months and then started leaking water from the top (like other reviewer said). Thus began the period in my life now referred to as The Great Delonghi Debacle... called Delonghi, apparently this problem not covered under warranty, but had it fixed anyway. Had to wait three and a half months for Delonghi to ship a part. As if that wasn't bad enough, within 2 weeks of getting my machine back, it started leaking again. Same part. Same wait for another part. Delonghi has horrid customer service. All I wanted was a working coffee maker and they would do NOTHING. The Caffe Nabucco was tossed to the curb. And by the way, their toasters are awful too. Do yourself a favor and stay away from any Delonghi product.

Customer Review: Have used this coffee maker since 2002 and it is still working
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this model from Fry's in 2002 and today I'm still enjoying my morning cup of joe today like I have for 7 days a week for 7 years. There have been some issues like the water leaking out of the basket, but the fix for that is to clean the spray hole and the problem went away. We use the espresso side about 4-6 times per month and never had a problem with it. We get our coffee green and roast it at home and this coffee maker has been the best brewer, spoken from a true coffee snob..:) When I saw the low star rating, I had to provide my review to show that there are some longer lasting models out there. When or if my machine breaks, I'll be replacing it with this same model: DeLonghi BCO70 Caffe Nabucco Espresso, Cappuccino, and Coffee Bar
