Description of Daniel Boulud 9-Inch Combination Honing Steel and Sharpener, Black Handle
Combination sharpening and honing steel. Two excellent sharpeners in one! Features ceramic discs to hone blades to a razor sharp edge. Also includes a sharpening steel which should be used periodically to hone the edge of the blade prior to using the knife. The edge on a fine knife is actually made up of hundreds of very tiny teeth. With use, these teeth get bent or out of alignment. The steel puts them back into a straight line and thus restores the sharp edge. Our unique steel and disc style tool was designed by Chef Daniel Boulud to handle even the hardest of Japanese steels like those used in our DBK line. The polymer handle is ergonimically designed and accented with signature DBK rivets. Daniel Boulud is a New York based chef who combines the best of traditional European cooking with the freshest of American ingredients. Growing up on his family's farm near Lyon France he was inspired by his grandmothers cooking, and by 13 he knew he wanted to become a professional chef. His renowned restaurants in New York City include Daniel, a four star eatery on Park Avenue named one of the ten best resturants in the world. Chef Boulud has personally designed every piece in the DBK line with function and form in mind.
