I compost kitchen scraps and had been using a plastic bowl, but it got sort of gross and wouldn't come clean after a while, so I started using one of my All-Clad bowls. Unfortunately it always seemed to have scraps in it when I wanted to use it for something else, plus the big one took up a lot of counter space and the smaller size wasn't big enough. I started searching for the perfect bowl and found this one. It's taller and narrower than the All-Clad bowl and is 4 quarts instead of 5 but big enough to hold all the produce trimmings when I'm making a big pot of vegetable soup or applesauce or whatever. It has a handle like the All-Clad bowls, which is really important to me, although the handle is not as deep so doesn't give quite as good a grip. The bowl also cleans up beautifully.

It has a brushed finish, a rubberized non-skid base that is on there very securely so I don't anticipate it coming off even after many trips though the dishwasher. The bowl has a pour spout and markings inside for measuring. I love my All-Clad bowls, but this bowl has some really nice features and is cheaper and you don't have to buy the set if you want just one.
