Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of DAZER II Ultrasonic Dog Deterrent

Customer Review: Thank you Dazer!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am very pleased with the Dazer!!

The next-door neighbors own 2 dogs that they by the way they don't care about hence they leave them out in the backyard all the time... for them to bark and torture me very effectively.

The `fence' between the 2 houses is a 6-feet wall. When someone comes out to the backyard the dogs immediately run towards the common fence and bark as loud as possible; though they are small/medium-sized, their barks are quite loud and bothersome.

I used the Dazer today for the first time... I heard them barking and went out into my backyard and went close to the backyard where they ran to immediately, barking and barking non-stop.

I `dazed' them once and they immediately ran away from the fence and one of the dogs quit barking- the small one. The larger dog -though also ran away, kept barking.

But I decided to invest 5 minutes to train them and stayed there so every time I heard barks -mostly the large dog because the small one wouldn't bark again, I hit the button on the dazer and though the dog became more irritated, it was clear that something was bothering him but he ended up quitting the barking...I know I probably will have to invest a few more days/weeks to fully train them, but it was very effective.

It is wonderful, it works!!!! I couldn't hear a thing but clearly it was very effective on the dogs... I am very happy with the product, it works!!!!

Customer Review: Fun to use!
Summary: 4 Stars

We purchased this product because we moved into a house with dogs in each of the neighboring yards who kept barking at us and each other, and we were fed up with it. There were also other dogs up the street who tended to harrass walkers.

I have only used the Dog Dazer about 10 times I would say, on maybe 5 different dogs now, and the effect is always fun! Without exception, the dog immediately stops barking and looks over its shoulder, looking immensely puzzled. The reason I've only used the Dog Dazer 10 times is because its effects seem to last. One dog, who occasionally ran at me as I walked to work, had just one treatment and hasn't come near me since. Our neighbor dog (who was the worst problem) has taken about 4 'shots' to get the message but now doesn't ever bark at me.

I always precede the 'shot' with a command such as 'Stop barking!', and this seemed to help the neighbor dog in particular, I then only needed to say that command and he backed off, and as I said, now he doesn't even try to bark - in fact we've become quite friendly, he's a sucker for attention!

I haven't given 5 stars because I am a little concerned that the Dog Dazer may be too susceptible to knocks, a couple of times I've had it emitting a high-pitched tone when I tested it instead of being effectively silent, it has started working again after that but I'm being very careful not to knock or bump it.

Customer Review: dog mode matters - this item works - please read
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a replacement for one my wife has used for years while running. We also use it walking our dog. THIS THING WORKS AS PER THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL. It will not work on dogs with hearing problems. It will not "completely" work on a dog that is not peaked for "attack", but it will annoy them to leave the area rather fast. That's a great point as it has kept the other dogs from entering "my dogs space" during walks without troubling my dog. Most important is the following:

If the dog is peaked for "attack" - I kid you not - it looks like the dog got "shocked". I've seen dogs pretty much jump straight in the air doing a 180 turn and run. I'm not a vet but I'm guessing something peaks in a dogs hearing during "attack mode".

Anyone not satisfied with this product has not read / understood the instructions or their expectations are beyond the products capabilities. If a deaf Rottweiler decides to attack you, you will not be satisfied with the performance of this device. If your dog is barking for "fun" or because of excess energy, it is just going to twist its head and look at you like you are weird for something... Perhaps if it annoys enough, the dog would stop barking (My dog was trained not to nuisance bark by other means). READ AND UNDERSTAND THE INSTRUCTIONS AND ITS USE. No doubt this device has protected my wife in the past.

Customer Review: I Love This!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this item! I live in a semi-rural area where lots of neighbors have dogs. I take a long walk each day. When I walk by, the dogs charge their fences and bark at me. I am not concerned about the dogs being aggressive, but I find the noise irritating. Then, I got the Dazer II.

There is one particular dog that likes to bark at me the whole length of his property line, following me along the fence as I walk by. The first day I walked by with the Dazer, he barked and I said, "Quiet," and pushed the button on the Dazer. The dog stopped barking and looked down. He followed me for a few feet and started barking again. I pushed the button, again. He stopped barking and went and hid behind a car until I passed. Nearly all the dogs on my walk act the same way. Using the Dazer once or twice is all it takes. They just stop barking and stand there. I don't know how they know to be quiet, but it works nearly every time.

I have noticed that a couple of small dogs don't seem to be affected. I am not sure why. Also, there is a range limit of about 20 ft. for good effect. Although, if you use the Dazer on a dog at close range, you can later use it at a longer range. They will be able to hear the sound, know how it feels at close range and just leave you alone.

I recommend this item without reservation.

Customer Review: Made this skeptic into a believer!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Like everyone else plagued by their neighbor's dogs, and seeking any possible solution; I wasn't too sure this would work. However, I was so desperate for peace and quiet I had to try it for the relatively small cost. I accepted the delivery and with giddy childhood excitement I ripped the dazer from the packaging and ran outside. On cue, the neighbor's Pomeranian and Chihuahua (who are always outside by the way) started yapping at the sound of the sliding door opening. I pointed the dazer (I was within 30 feet) and hit the button for 2 seconds. The dazer stopped them in their tracks. Every subsequent bark got a 2 second blast. After 3 iterations the barking went more to a whimper or grumble. After 2 days of me doing this exercise, they no longer bark when I open the sliding door. When my dogs run out (who by the way NEVER bark) to go potty in the dog run they still bark but I point the dazer at them and blamo it stops and they run to the other side of their yard. It's nice because I can point the dazer and focus the signal at them without affecting my dogs. I figure after another week I won't need the dazer at all anymore. Awesome training tool to quietly and humanely eliminate annoyance barking for your neighbor's dogs!!! You have to make sure you can get within 20-30 feet though, after that it loses its effectiveness.
