Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of DAZER II Ultrasonic Dog DeterrentCustomer Review: Has worked on 5 out of 6 dogs so far (4.5 stars) Summary: 4 Stars
I have been using this for the past several weeks, as there are a few streets I walk down with dangerous looking dogs (that either bark at me as I walk by on the sidewalk, or come out of the yard and approach me, or are just wandering the streets) and it has been very effective on all but one dog--a crazy medium-sized mutt that keeps barking. But even with this problem dog, when it ran out of the yard and into the street to get me, I zapped it (probably three yards from it) and at least it stopped there and didn't come any closer. It just kept barking and turning in circles. But I think something is wrong with that dog. So I'm not sure if I can blame it on this product. Maybe the dog is semi-deaf, or crazy.
But for all the other dogs (five so far), they immediately stopped barking, and then retreated a few steps and became docile (usually sitting down) or simply fled in confusion. And the dogs have been of all sizes: small, medium, and large. It was obvious that they were disturbed by the sound and wanted to get away from me. Exactly what I wanted. I hope to "train" these dogs, so that in the future when they see me approach, they will just leave me alone. And I won't even need to use this device anymore.
So I feel a lot safer with this. And it's really lightweight, so I just clip it on to my belt or the waistband of my sweats. To be able to walk down streets I want to walk down without worrying about being attacked by mutts has been a relief.
But just in case, sometimes I still carry a small can of HALT! (which I haven't used so far), as it's really lightweight too. Just in case the batteries run out on the Dog Dazer.
Customer Review: Excellent product!! Summary: 5 Stars
I also felt compelled to advise potential buyers of the effectiveness.
First, let me say, I was thoroughly impressed with the shipping time. I received this just a few days after I ordered it. I didn't expect it for at least a week.
Now, the Dazer. Our neighbor has a dog who doesn't like to be in the house, so they allow the mutt to roam the neighborhood all day. This is so they don't put up with his whining. Personally, I would get rid of the dog. In either case, this dog consistently found his way across the street, to my yard, to relieve himself. If we would try and stop the dog, he would start barking incessantly. If we walked outside and he was in the yard, he would start barking. There are times when no one was outside, and he was barking, in our yard, like a maniac. I have asked the owner, on several occasions, to correct this problem...obviously, to no avail.
I ordered the Dazer. After reading the other reviews, I couldn't wait for the opportunity to use it. I took it when I went for a walk. This dog came charging at me and I "Dazed" him. He stopped in his tracks, looking quite confused. I had to "Daze" him a couple more times before he decided I wasn't worth the noise, turned around and walked away.
When I finally caught the neighbors dog in the yard again, I "Dazed" him and he simply ran away - no barking. He hasn't been back since. Somehow our yard has become invisible to him. I've been waiting for him. I almost want him to come back so I can test it again. If he does, I'll be waiting.
I've had other successful incidents with the dazer. Bottom Line: IT WORKS!
Customer Review: WOW This thing works! Summary: 5 Stars
I got the Dazer II the other day, and boy does it work great! I live on 5-acre corner lot. I have a neighbor to the south of me who has six dogs. They are not well trained. They bark and go crazy every time I walk on the south end of my property. One of the dogs, a large vicious one, squeezes under the gate, and runs across the road to my property. He comes up to me on my property barking, growling, and menacing me. I have tried to yell at the dog and chase it back to his property to no avail.
This morning when I woke up I saw the same dog relieving himself on one of my trees. Well this day was going to be different. I got my Dazer II and went out the door. As I approached him he started coming toward me barking and growling. I was about 15 feet from the dog when I aimed and pressed the button. He stopped barking for a few seconds, and then started barking again. I gave him another blast, and got the same results. The third time he started to bark I shot at him again. This time he stopped barking, and ran back across the street. He quickly squeezed under the gate to get back in his yard. He and the other five dogs started to bark at me. I pressed the button again, and the dogs stopped barking. After pressing the button three times, all but one of the dogs ran back to their house. The last dog took six blasts from the Dazer II, and then he ran off too. I came back to the south side of my property an hour later, and the dogs started to bark again. This time it only took one-shot from the Dazer II to get them to stop barking. I plan on going to the south end of my property every day with my Dazer II.
Customer Review: Best anti bark device on the market Summary: 5 Stars
I have a wonderful St. Bernard who is very protective of all things his. This has made him a barker. He will bark at the neighbors, delivery people, mail carrier and anything else that moves past or coming to our house.
This is how good the product is: Our mailman Bob, who has been barked at while Murphy rips the curtains and tears at the door, asked me a month after I got my Dazzer, if Murphy was dead. Bob said he had not heard Murphy is such a long time. I told him NO, I finally found someway to get his attention and calm his anxiety.
I simply caught him as he started to bark, said the word quiet and zapped him with the Dazzer. It only took 3 times of being zapped for him to decide it wasn't as much fun as he thought it was to bark at the door. I praised him when he didn't bark and now the UPS guy, Bob, the neighbors can all walk past and to the house and Murphy doesn't even care. He still is attentive at the door for the bell, which I prefer but the ugly barking has stopped. I don't even have to have the Dazzer in my hand now. I can point a remote control, the wireless mouse for the computer or simply say QUIET and he is.
I took a Dazzer to my daughter when we visited, not for her dogs but for the neighbor yappy dog and just a couple of fertive zaps and the dog quit barking at them when they are outside.
This product is fantastic, marvelous, kicks butt and works. Buy one, or four like I did for my next door neighbor, my dog's groomer for the unruly ones she deals with, my daughter as I stated and my postman Bob, who says he has a much quieter route now.
Customer Review: Win Win Win Summary: 5 Stars
Our neighbor's dog, who is left out for extended periods of time, would yap at anything: birds, people, even a fence post (no kidding). Sometimes there would 2-3 hours of constant barking, at anytime from 6AM - 10PM. Sometimes I could hear the dog getting hoarse. Getting in touch with them to discuss the issue was difficult because they keep odd hours, and I did not want to upset their elderly parents.
Before buying the Dazer, I tried clapping, loudly saying "no", even a dog whistle. All of these things were ineffective and led to more barking.
So, I bought the Dazer II. When it came in the mail, the dog was outback barking its head off. So, I walked out back, looked at the dog, and said "no" while pressing the button for 1 second. The dog immediately became silent and looked at me like, "what the heck was that?" A few days later, a similar incident occurred, I took the same steps and got the same response. That was the last time that I used the device.
It has been a few weeks, and the barking is much more bearable. The dog will still bark a few times when someone walks down the alley, but the incessant barking seems to have stopped. On the rare occasion that the dog barks more than a few times, I just turn the knob on my back door. When the dog hears my lock, it immediately goes silent but continues to go about its business of digging, playing, looking around, etc.
Win for me
Win for the dog
Win for the other neighbors who were being bothered
