Customer Review: Safely holds cupcakes BUT...

A dependable carrier for safely transporting your cupcakes. Beautiful to look at too. Only two design problems:
(1) As pointed out by other reviewers, frosted cupcakes are very difficult to retrieve because the cupcake wells are so deep...once you drop in a cupcake, the only portion of the cupcake that can be touched is the frosted top...such that your fingers are digging into the frosting/top/sides to retrieve a cupcake...kind of gross unless it's your own cupcake (a lot of people would object to someone else's fingers in their frosting). Unless I really need to remove the cupcakes from the carrier for presentation purposes, I just leave them in the carrier and tell people to retrieve their own cupcakes so it's their own fingers digging in to get them out. Fortunately, the carrier is rather attractive. Apparently there are other cupcake carriers out there that are more shallow, and with depressions on the sides that allow you to remove the cupcake at the liner level....far more practical but the carriers don't look as cool/pretty as this one. I pull this out to lots of oohs and ahhs.
(2) The latching system is a little awkward. All four latches on my beloved cupcake carrier were broken off (and, hence, the carrier ruined) by my son's teacher when she tried to open the carrier. I have no idea what she did but she said that when she tried to open it, they all just broke off. I would have hoped that the latching system would be sturdy enough to handle some light jostling from someone without everything just snapping off. So, I recommend that if you drop off cupcakes for someone else to open and enjoy, show them how the latching system works so they don't end up inadvertently breaking it.
Oh, and as others mentioned, you need to have a LOT of storage space for this carrier... it is significantly longer/wider than the size of a standard cupcake tin and very tall. Despite the drawbacks, I'm buying another carrier....it really does a great job of storing all the cupcakes I churn out on a monthly basis.
