Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Culligan PIT-1 Water Filter Pitcher

Customer Review: "wonderful part of my life"
Summary: 5 Stars

Unlike those negative reviewers, I experienced absolutely ZERO problems with the lid or replacement cartridge.
I merely followed the directions, which were included in the box.

After being filtered, my tap water now tastes- absolutely pure and fresh.

The Culligan Water Filter Pitcher, is a wonderful part of my life!

Before trying out this filter pitcher, I was reliant on drinking water from heavy, expensive water bottles
or simple tap water, which had a chemical taste.

As a heavy water drinker, after buying the Culligan Water Filter Pitcher,
I no longer need to drink water from heavy, expensive water bottles or basic tap water, which has a chemical taste.

Customer Review: lousy lid
Summary: 3 Stars

The pitcher is great! Too bad they made such a poor design in the lid and its functions. (A) no vent to allow free flow of water when pouring. (B)theres nothing to hold the lid on other than gravity. Fortunately i have big hands and can pour while holding the lid down with my thumb. Also don't be fooled by "the built in filter replacement indicator on lid". It's nothing more than a plastic dial that YOU turn manually, IF YOU CAN GET IT TO TURN AT ALL. Last, it looks to me like they could have (and should have) incorporated use of the handle by using it for a vent, or at least allowing it to hold water? All in all i'm satisfied but when it breaks i'll probably try another brand in search of better quality.

Customer Review: Could not ask for a better pitcher
Summary: 5 Stars

Reviews complaining about the Culligan pitcher must be mistaken. We bought a Britta pitcher at a local store and were really disappointed. Black pieces kept coming out of the filter, even after over a dozen rinse-throughs, and the water tasted terrible. The lid barely stayed on even when we weren't pouring. We returned it hoping to exchange it for another brand. Every store in town carried only the Britta. Finally we searched online for a different brand and found the Culligan. Pours perfectly every time, lid stays on tight even when there's still water in the top, and the water tastes great. I would highly recommend it over the Britta and in general.

Customer Review: Does not filter chlorine!
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this pitcher recently, followed the directions to the letter (pre-soaking the filter, etc) and made 3 full pitchers of water before making the fourth to drink. As the others have said, the water tastes downright nasty. I noticed a chlorine smell from the filtered water as well, and having been in the water quality biz some years ago, I busted out my water quality kit and tested for chlorine (simple OTO test for free chlorine). Sure enough, the test read 2 ppm. I have never had this issue with the PUR pitcher I had even when I forgot to change the filter for months. The Culligan pitcher is getting returned!

Customer Review: I LOVE this pitcher - even with flimsy lid
Summary: 5 Stars

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this pitcher. The price is rock-bottom, as are the replacement filters (I was able to get the pitcher and 1 years worth of filtration for less than the price of just a Brita or PUR pitcher alone).
The water tastes great, the pitcher fills pretty quickly, it's easy to clean and the filter changes easily. The LID is an issue, but a very small one for me personally. It does flip off easily, but that is solved by just pressing it with your thumb when you pour. A very minor inconvenience in an otherwise excellent product.
