I had some extra Amazon gift card credits, and I just could no longer resist this cool little tool that I had found long ago and that has been sitting on my Amazon Wish List ever since. I make myself PB&J sandwiches for lunch every week, and truth be told, I kind of hate having to get out a separate knife and spoon to do it (I would probably just stick the same knife I use for the peanut butter in the jelly jar, but if my husband caught me doing that, I'd be in big trouble). So I finally broke down and purchased this gadget.
The first thing that you notice about the Cuisipro PB&J Spreader is that it is BIG! At 11 1/2 inches, it is almost as long as a ruler; that is bigger than I had anticipated, but I should have read the description more closely. It didn't turn out to be an issue as much as it took me by surprise. So, when I went to make my inaugural sandwich with the spreader, I started with the peanut butter (tan) side first. And I have to say, using this spreader was MUCH better than using a knife: the spreader is more like a spatula, so it was much easier to apply the peanut butter smoothly and evenly to the bread, especially with the natural-style peanut butter that I favor.
Unfortunately, the jelly (purple) section wasn't quite as miraculous. It worked fine, but there are a couple of minor issues. As other reviewers have noted, when you flip the spreader around, it is very easy to get peanut butter residue on your hand or your sleeve. You can avoid this issue by either 1) being very careful, or 2) washing the peanut butter side immediately after using it, but it seems like a bit of a design flaw. Second, the jelly side is similar to the peanut butter side in that is like a spatula--but for jelly, you usually want more of a spoon.
So, in the end, this little gadget is not ideal, nor is it necessary. But do I regret purchasing it? No, I don't; it's a fun little item to have it my kitchen, and it makes me smile when I use it--you can decide for yourself whether that's worth the price.

Thought this was a neat concept and added it, impulsively, at the last minute to my order. I love this thing! I don't have to constantly dirty 2 knives every time I make a pb&j. It's also great because, if you buy the huge jars of peanut butter like we do, usually you get to the bottom of it & end up with peanut butter all over your hand while trying to get the peanut butter at the bottom. In our family we give a "mystery" kitchen item each year. Everyone tries to guess what the item is used for. This spreader really had the group stumped, someone finally came up with it on the third day, with some minor hints. Since then my 11 year old has been using it to make sandwiches. I thought this was such a great idea so I wouldn't get the peanutbutter in the jelly jar but when you flip it around to use the jelly side, the PB hits you in the sleeve. It's also a bit larger than it needs to be. If they cut the size in 1/2 I think it would be a better tool. Personally I would recommend you use a regular knife, lick the PB off and stick it in the jelly jar :-)Customer Review: Love It

We purchased the pb & jelly spreader. We purchase the 3# tubs of peanut butter from our local warehouse club. This spreader is the right length to get to the bottom of the tub and scrap the sides and not get pb all over your hands. The spreader is flexible and spreads the peanut butter without damaging the bread.
