This is definitely a cool kitchen tool to have. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because it's a *little* more expensive than I think it should be. Also, the chamber to hold whatever you're decorating with is pretty small. However, it needs to be fairly small to allow for the amount of control you want to have to use it. The tip and plunger are sturdy plastic. The body is made of thick plastic. This is definitely made with quality. It's nice that you can take the tip off to get a thicker line.
I used it tonight to drizzle candy coating on some things. It worked really well. You just put the tip in the melted chocolate, draw up the plunger, and start using it. It takes just a short while to get used to. You can hold it like a pen and squeeze to get better control, or you can push the plunger down if you don't need as much control (I found the latter method better for just drizzling chocolate). Big advantage for what I used it for: Much less mess. Clean up is easy also.
I'd definitely recommend this. If you keep it in the back of your mind, you'll find times when you will use it...especially if you work with confections and sauces a lot.
