The benefit was the cup's accuracy, and ease of reading the liquid level from the top.
The visual display mechanism is a detachable magnetic slider that is set prior to use. The slider may also be moved to the metric side. Pour the liquid in then watch until it reaches the measure, which is quite easy to use, and eliminates the meniscus effect.
What I find most enjoyable is the round interiors that make using a rubber spatula quite easy. Secondly, cleaning the interior is also very easy.
Pros: accuracy, ease of use with slider, ease of cleaning, microwave safe
Cons: cleaning the slider
The five star was not given because the time it takes to clean the magnetic slider. I tend not to use this.
I would certainly recommend both measuring cups to my friends.
