Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart WMR-CA Round Classic Waffle MakerCustomer Review: Bummer Summary: 2 Stars
I am so disappointed in this item. I purchased this waffle maker from a local retail outlet on impulse and it sat unused for a couple of months before I decided to try it out. What a nightmare. First of all, the lid sort of flops around and doesn't sit flush with the bottom. At first I thought this was to accommodate thicker batter. Then I poured my waffle batter in and closed the lid. Batter oozed out the sides and spilled down onto the counter. My bad, right? When the light turned green indicating that the waffle was done, I gingerly lifted the lid via the handle .. only to have my hand burned from the steam. Part of the cooked waffle was stuck to the bottom plate, part was stuck to the top. (Yes, I sprayed the plates before pouring the batter, but it didn't help.) It took me awhile to get the lid all the way open, all the while trying to avoid burning myself AND saving the waffle. I plucked the now torn-up waffle from the plates and tried again. A little less batter, gently lowered the lid, less of a mess but once again .. when I went to lift the lid I ended up with stuck waffle and steam burns.
This thing is just too clumsy and clunky. If I can ever find the receipt, I'm taking it back. Lesson learned. I'm here on Amazon looking for reviews for a replacement unit and next time, I won't wait so long between receiving the gadget and trying it out.

I got this to replace a really good really cheap waffle maker we bought about 6 years ago. I thought the Cuisinart name was a guarantee. This item proves that's not true.
It does not make Belgian waffles. It makes flat small waffles. Eggos are more substantial than these.
It has no audible signal.
The design is awful. As with most waffle makers you can't go by the directions or a recipe as to how much to pour in for each waffle. But this was ridiculous. Even using less than what they recommended (and much less than what the waffle mix said to use), the excess batter literally poured out from all around the edges, which made a terrible mess. It is no picnic trying to clean waffle batter from that narrow slot where you adjust the browning level. It added considerably to the time involved in prepping, cooking, and cleaning up.
Did that little lever work? Yes and no. On 5 it actually cooked the waffle. Any number lower than that left the waffle kind of mushy.
You really have to work to get the thing to stand on end and not slide open or fall open.
I brought it back today. I wish they still made the 'el cheapo' Toastmaster I got at the supermarket half dozen years ago, but it's not available any more. That made great waffles. Wish me luck with my next choice.

Since I make it a priority to do research on products before I buy, one of the things I try to find out is how long the person writing the review has had or used the product before submitting it. I have owned this Cuisinart Waffle Maker for going on 3 years. Purchased it after I heartbrokenly had to discard of my mothers old GE waffle grill iron. By this time it was just me & my other, so I figured a small one would be fine. Right out of the box, the only temp that wouldn't burn the waffles was one. Not something I would expect from a name brand product but, it was at the cheaper end of the line so, I accepted it. Though I found with even 2 people, 1 waffle at a time resulted in cold waffles unless you were able to keep the other warm until the last one was done. I probably make waffles once every 2 months. After about 2 years of use, the waffles started sticking. I've used the same made from scrap recipe for years so I know it wasn't the batter. Even so, after apply non-stick spray, and even shortening to the waffle iron, I added a tad more oil to the batter. None of those tricks worked. Each time the waffle stuck, and by the time I was able to carefully scrap them off the iron, we had waffle crisps for breakfast instead. I'm done. This iron will be trashed and I'm checking ebay for a version of my old one.
Customer Review: A Little Skeptical at First Summary: 5 Stars
I own a Cuisinart Classic Waffle Maker and I love it. It performs very well and is simple to use. I do spray the cooking surface a little with a cooking spray but the waffles cook to perfection every time and it is not difficult to clean up. I use my setting between 3 and 4 ( a little more to the 4 side).
So many people give this item a poor rating but I have to say that I really like mine; I almost didn't purchase it after reading all the negatives but I decided to go ahead and I am not sorry at all. Don't bad-mouth this item because I sincerely believe that all the problems are the operators of the product and not the product itself.
I would recommend this item; it is very reasonably priced and so easy to use and it cleans up with a swipe of paper towel. I do store it with paper towel between the cooking surfaces and I slip it into a large "zip-lock' bag in case any oil might drip. Honestly, I have had no oil dripping but it is just a safety measure.
Don't hesitate to purchase this item because it works well. AND, you need a little cooking spray each time (not much) which will give you perfectly round waffles that separate from the grill with ease and are cooked well.
.......happy in Miami.
Customer Review: Works like it should! Summary: 5 Stars
We love our Cuisinart waffle maker!
It cooks the waffles to golden brown perfection in a tiny amount of time. The little light indicators seem very accurate. I like really dark waffles and have had good experience leaving them just a little longer for good color. I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the waffle maker. Though it makes nice big round waffles, the waffle iron itself is tiny! My main reason for not owning a waffle maker was that they were all too big to fit in our tiny kitchen cabinets. I have not had problems with steam, or loose buttons, but the build quality is not stellar. Word to the wise: you only get what you pay for. I think it's worth it.
I heartily recommend using the recipe from the booklet rather than pancake mix. It's plenty fast and the quality will be noticeable I've never had problems with this recipe sticking.
Here is the recipe for those who do not have their manual:
2 C flour
2T sugar
1T baking powder
1/2 t salt
1 3/4 C milk (Almond milk works too)
6 T vegetable oil
2 large eggs
Mix dry, then add wet ingredients and let it sit for 5 min, and then cook it on 3 or 4.
1/2 cup max per waffle or it will overflow
Have fun!
