Customer Review: A weight watchers dream

I have read some of the negative reviews on here and can't really argue with many of the points made. It does have a small surface area and it will not close if the sandwich is too thick. So I guess it's all about how you use it.
I am on Weight Watchers and am really trying to watch my calories. But I really love cheesy sandwiches like the croque monsieur. I can make low calorie versions of these things that are really satisfying. If I use Arnold sandwich thins or Healthy Life bread and low fat cheese, I can have a grilled cheese sandwich for around 250 calories which goes great with tomato soup.
I once made an omelet in this machine. It was a little messy but very tasty. I use it to make pizza sandwiches and ham and swiss and all kinds of great warm, gooey, cheesy but light treats to eat.
There are a couple of things that are preventing me from giving it that last star. Non-stick or not, this thing is a real pain to clean. Also, the hot plates are exposed on the sides and I once burned the side of my hand when I went to grab something on the counter next to it so be careful!

Layer cheese, tuna, veggies, mushrooms, or whatever is desired between slices of bread, set on the deep-pocket grill, and close and lock the lid. Sandwiches come out perfectly browned and sealed, with a diagonal indentation making them easy to slice in half. The grill cooks one or two sandwiches at a time, and also turns out waffles and omelets. The nonstick finish keeps food from sticking, although a little butter or oil also helps. A red light comes on when the grill is plugged in and heating up; a green light announces the grill is ready to use. To clean, simply wipe off the grill plates when cool.
