Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart WM-PZ2 Pizzelle PressCustomer Review: Cuisinart Pizzelle Press/Maker Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this new CuisinartWM-PZ2 the week before Christmas. It was delivered within 3 days as promised. We put the pizzelle maker to the test immediately, making 3 different batches of about 66 cookies. It works beautifully. It uses the same amount of dough per cookie as other older makers, but cookies are slightly smaller and a little thicker. Cookie is less likely to break during eating, handling and freezing process. Every cookie released perfectly. This press has red and green lights that let you know when the cookie is done. If you are experienced with cookie presses you may not need to use this feature. This press also comes with a spoon for measuring dough and wood dowel for rolling your cookies. These may be helpful to the beginner, but I found them unnecessary. I really love this Cuisinart Pizzelle Press Cuisinart WM-PZ2 Pizzelle Press.
Customer Review: Cuisinart Pizzelle Press Summary: 5 Stars
Perfect Pizzelles! This is a great pizzelle maker and you can't beat the price. It heats quickly and evenly, the nonstick surface is easy to clean and you can store it upright to save space. It also has several settings so you can make them lighter or darker. The nonstick surface is great, all you really need is a quick wipe with a wet paper towel, I am a maniac about cleaning so I also like to use a toothbrush to clean all the nooks and crannies in the press. Although it doesn't have an indicator tone, you can hear a soft click when the light is turning from green to red so you can multi task. The instruction book comes with several traditional recipes that you can mix up in minutes. Perfect for holidays or anytime you want a quick treat. Anise, vanilla and almond are my favorites, I have not tried it yet but I was thinking of making a batch with banana extract, I imagine you could pretty much use any extract. Highly recommended!
Customer Review: A few tips to make it easier... Summary: 4 Stars
I've had my pizzelle maker for 2 1/2 years now. And this is what I've found...
#1 Spray the grids every time with cooking spray prior putting the batter in. I like to try and not use it every time, but I've realized that I've got to use it every single time (for every 2 cookies). If I don't, they will stick and it's a mess to try and get all the crumbs out of the grids and clean it properly.
#2 The clip broke off that holds the top down 2 years ago. Last year, I fanagled it back on and was very careful with it. But, then it really broke. Now I hold the top down for 3-5 seconds and then let it cook on its own. It bakes the pizzelles just fine even without that clip. Thank goodness because we really like pizzelles in our house around the holidays and during cold weather.
The vanilla recipe that comes with the machine works great. Happy pizzelling!
Customer Review: Krum Kake Summary: 5 Stars
Just so you know, i bought this item hoping it would make a Scandinavian cookie called Krum Kake and i wasn't dissappointed. Everything was non-stick heaven, even though the krum kake is a thinner batter than most pizelles mixes. I highly recommend this machine, it worked better than i could have hoped, nothing stuck, everything cooked uniformly and having a light indicate when the cookie was perfectly done was amazing. What a difference from how my mother cooked them over and open flame with a Krum kake iron - what a pain. Kudos to Cuisinart for the perfect Krum kake/ Pizelle iron. I can't tell you how many people I asked to find out if I could use a pizelle maker for Krum kake, I just decided to try it myself and it worked! So the eternal question is answered, a pizelle maker can make a wonderful Krum kake cookie with ease! Thank you Cuisinart!
Customer Review: teflon or other... Summary: 3 Stars
I'm planning to get one of those, but the problem is "non-stick" surfaces, which usually is a Teflon, which is a Cancer causing chemical. DuPont the maker of Teflon admitted about 5 years ago, that they never disclosed this information to public since its invention about 40 years ago. Just recently Environmental Protection Agency sued DuPont for that and they were fined about one hundred million dollar. I can imagine how many hundreds of thousands people died because of this disgusting "invention". So, if these panin machines are using TEFLON, then look for those machines with the new CERAMIC non-chemical coatings, which is increasingly used in the new fry-pans.
This particular machine, I have no idea what coating is used. Best is to inquire with the manufacturer and let them know, that people are not stupid as we were 40 years ago.
