Many years ago, I fell in love with pizzelles after my mother's nephew-in-law, an Italian, would bring over homemade pizzelles. My mom started making them eventually, and this year, I got a "hankerin'" as they say in Texas, for pizzelles. My first choice wasn't the Cuisinart, but since it made 4" pizzelles, I decided to purchase it (not from Amazon for I was in a hurry). I made two batches today using the recipe book included with the machine - the first was the traditional recipe using anise extract. The second batch was the chocolate recipe (but I didn't have chocolate chips and just used a 1/4 cup of cocoa). I set the machine to about 2.5 on the heat adjustment. I refrigerated the dough for at least 1/2 hour. The spoon that comes with the machine is a little on the small size, so I figured out that a ball shape (about 2 tsp. worth) placed just a little above the center made just about a perfectly sized pizzelle. Even though I had prepped the grill with canola oil, the chocolate pizzelles stuck over and over again. I wound up using a toothbrush to apply oil to the tiny crevices to help with the sticking issue. Once I make another regular batch, I will know for sure whether the sticking was due to the grill or to the difference between the batters. I purchased my pizzelle maker in August. I opened it and read all directions this morning. I mixed up my batch of batter...I actually doubled it for the holidays. It smoked obsessively. I read in the directions that it is normal for it to do that. The red light was on and the green one never came on. I put the setting on 1 because I like my pizzelles kind of light. I put batter in and closed it.....25 seconds later those two cookies were burnt black to a crisp. My next two cookies were only left in there about 15 seconds....they were burnt to a crisp too. The next two cookies wouldn't cook. I waited and waited.....all lights went off (no red or green). Finally I realized that the whole thing had powered off somehow. I checked my outlet for power. I also unplugged the pizzelle maker and plugged it back in again. It is completely dead! So now I have a double batch of batter and no pizzelle maker.....and to make matters worse....I have no idea where the receipt is....I am headed upstairs to look for it right now. It sounds as if other people have had more luck with this pizzelle maker than I have. I definitely won't buy another one of these! :-(Customer Review: WONDERFUL Pizzelle Maker..

I am a pretty methodical consummer. I think about my purchases, research them, think about them again and then look for the best deal. I had seen a recipe for pizzelles, and it struck me what a simple recipe it is. I know pizzelles are classic, relatively low caorie cookies, and can be served in a variety of ways. Started looking into the differnt pizzelle makers, and came across this Cuisinart model. Read all the reviews. It was available at Bed, Bath and Beyond for $40 (with 20% off).
Finally took the plunge yesterday and bought it. Whipped up the basic pizzelle recipe and was worried b/c my dough came out more formed/stiff than I expected (I expected the dough to be like crepe dough - pretty thin). I proceeded anyway and my first pizzelle came out PICTURE PERFECT. The whole first batch (34 pizzelles) came out great. I had to regrease the pans a couple of times, but not a big deal. Could not be happier with this product.
A really wonderful pizzelle maker. I can't wait to try new recipies, and eventually give as gifts.

I am happy with this machine, it cooks evenly and quickly. The cookies slide right off and there was really not much to clean from the plates once i was done. It was just a quick wipe down with a damp paper towel. The only complaint I do have, and it is a minor complaint, is that I went through a whole batch of dough and never could get the exact spoon size needed to make a full cookie. Also, a lot of the cookies came out off center. I gave up using the spoon that came with the machine, because the cookies were coming out too small. I used a cookie scoop I already had, and it seemed to get better, but there were still quite a few off-center, too small cookies. This is no big deal when making them for family, but I want to make and give pizzelles as gifts at the holidays, so I need to figure out the magic combination to make them the right size and centered correctly.
Overall, I would most certainly buy this machine again, or recommend it to others.

This is exactly what I was looking for. It works great and I was making perfect pizzelles in no time at all. I pulled it out of the box, mixed up some batter with the including instruction book and I had pizzelles! They tasted great! The iron heated up quickly and held the temperature constant throughout. The instruction book has recipes for regular vanilla pizzelles and anise ones as well as a chocolate version and another fancier one. I only tried the basic one so far because that what we like but the recipe is easy to follow. I just dumped all the ingredients together and a baking I was. This product was everything I expected and more. You can only make 2 at a time but they go so quickly I had dozens made in no time at all. I was worried when I bought this since it was the cheapest one Amazon had but I didn't want to spend the extra money and I'm glad I didn't. This is a really great product and I can't think of anything I didn't like about it.
