Customer Review: Top Style - uneven toasting

This was the most stylish oven in the stores and I was so glad to get a color (white 50C model) rather than the stainless or chrome that all ovens seem to come in. The quality seems top notch for a reasonable price. My gripe is that for toasting the top of the bread is always nearly burned even at the lightest setting. If I observe the heating elements I can see the top comes on much stronger than the bottom. While we can flip the tray over and move the bread lower this is not an excellent configuration. That requires sliding the bread over the wire edge to remove it which isn't very handy. I will probably keep it because I love the style but I can see broiling will be its chief function for our kitchen.Customer Review: Works great but door won't shut

I purchased one a year ago and it's great for everything from toast to a small roast. The rack can be moved in three different positions and the settings do what they're supposd to. BUT...there is a serious design problem with the door.
After a while, the hinge does not bring the door back into a fully sealed position and I found that it needs to be banged several times for it to close properly, otherwise there's a 1/2" gap, obviously no good. It's something I've got used to....but I just recently broke the handle trying to do this and it looks like I'm taking it in for a repair.
Mind, it has a three year warranty but this is the only oven I have. I would not recommend this toaster.

My husband and I have had this toaster for a year and a half, and it still works like it did on day one. We do not have any kind of door staying open problem like many of the one star reviews say. I think people are just slamming their oven doors or something. It is not meant to be a door that swings back up automatically, you have to close it. It heats great and I have NEVER even once had something burn or stay cold on the inside. Some of the one star complaints talk about how you aren't able to bake items like cookies or casseroles. That's crazy- cook that stuff in your real oven. I know this item is $99, but I think it looks great, and works great and is well worth the money!Customer Review: Piece of junk

This oven is a piece of junk. Within 6 months of use, the door started misbehaving (as so many other reviewers mention). Once I closed the door a little forcefully, and the handle broke. I called Cuisinart, and they offered me a replacement but they asked me to pay for shipping both ways. This is my first and last Cuisinart item.
UPDATE: Cuisinart sent me a newer version of the oven after I complained to them. They have changed the design: the handle is different now, and there is a click when you shut the oven door -- most probably, they have changed the door closing mechanism. So far the new one is behaving OK, but my fingers remain crossed :)

This is such a chi chi well built appliance I'm actually a bit intimidated by it.
It's big, and in hot weather it does a stellar job of replacing the big hot oven. There's plenty of room for food for two, does a lot of impeccable toast at once, and generally astonishes with the quality.
This is bigger than most toaster ovens, so you'll need a spot the size of a very small mocrowave. But if you live in the South you'll love it for the occasional thing you need an oven for in summer menus.
And it makes GREAT tots!
Gotta love the Cuisinart quality. The stuff is very pricy- but I've never been disappointed.
