Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart PSC-400 Stainless Steel 4-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker

Customer Review: Do not buy
Summary: 1 Stars

This product is a blot on the Cuisinart name. It's controls are backwards, Hi means Lo and vice versa. For the first couple of times we used it, so long as we remembered the 'eccentric' controls, it worked fine. Now it won't heat above 160F. I'd happily trade in the 'state of the are' electronic controls for a simple rheostat and a separate timer. From now on, if I want something slow-cooked, I'll just put a pot on the simmer plate. Bleagh!

Customer Review: crockpot
Summary: 5 Stars

I have no idea whether Cuisinart is American, Japanese or European, but clearly if you want something sturdy, with great service and reliability, you need to only look to Cuisinart. My eathenware crockpot came with a bad chip, the Amazon retailer offered immediately to replace it, the replacement from cuisinart also came with a bad chip, Cuisinart not only replaced it,but paid for postage both ways, now that is SERVICE

Customer Review: Misleading "Programable""
Summary: 2 Stars

I was very excited to start using my Cuisinart slow cooker. I ordered it through Amazon and received it very promptly. However, once I unpacked it and started to read the directions I became dissappointed. To describe this unit as being programmable is misleading. The one feature I really needed was the ability to delay the start of cooking. But all the so called programming does is allow you to set how long it cooks.

Customer Review: Who checks the bogus pricing?
Summary: 2 Stars

Amazon should be responsible for bogus pricing of their items. This is listed as a $78 item, discounted from $145. That's just a misrepresentation (another term for a lie). It's listed at the Cuisinart Web site at $79.95. At Bed Bath and Beyond, it's a whopping $79.99. Amazon is a good place to shop, but there are lots of pricing misrepresentations, particularly those that exaggerate the "discount".

Customer Review: Cooks great but not for long.
Summary: 1 Stars

The PSC-400 is a great size and, when working, cooks very well. Unfortunately, after about 6 uses it became "defective". Maybe Cuisinart should go back to having their products made in Japan rather than China. To take advantage of the replacement under the waranty, it cost $10 for them to ship me a new unit and $37 for me to ship the defective unit back. This is the last Cuisinart product I will buy.
