Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart PSC-400 Stainless Steel 4-Quart Programmable Slow CookerCustomer Review: Good buy Summary: 5 Stars
Got it for over a month using rewards points so it's free to me.
I love this product; very versatile, beautiful design matched with contemporary kitchen style. Very easy to operate, simple rule of thumbs, if you put it on HIGH, it will take 4 hours of cooking time, on LOW, 8 hours.
I've tried all kind of stews on HIGH settings, it was lovely. I tried beans and lentils overnight for 8 hours on LOW, it's perfect.
I would recommend this product, the price is right too.
Customer Review: Great little slow cooker! Summary: 5 Stars
I have the all clad 6.5 quart programable slow cooker and it's great, but too big for some of the recipes I cook like desserts. This Cuisinart is great when it's just me and my husband. I've made several recipes and it works good. I got rid of my old slow cookers, the only way to go is programable that switch to warm like this one and allclad's. That way if you have a recipe that calls for 6-8 hrs and you don't get home for 9+ hrs your meal hasn't turned to mush.
Customer Review: Exactly what I was looking for Summary: 4 Stars
What I like best about this slow cooker is that I can set the timer in half-hour increments, no matter what heat setting is being used. And it shows how much time is remaining. I also like the retractable cord. My only complaint has been that the Low setting seems to be TOO low, because meat doesn't always get completely cooked in the time specified on the recipes, so I almost never use Low anymore. But I recommend it, and I would buy it again.
Customer Review: Great for boiled food Summary: 1 Stars
Avoid the high setting unless you want boiled food. I made split pea soup and got carrot & pea mush. I had a couple of stalks of celery in there, but they are nowhere to be found now. The carrots have the consistency of paste. I measured the gruel with a Thermapen and sure enough it was 212 degrees.
Stay with the low setting, watch it like a hawk, and you'll be fine - but you can do that with a pot on the stove and save yourself $70.00+.
Customer Review: Great for a family with two working parents! Summary: 5 Stars
My wife and I do not have time to cook meals, but we do not want to eat out all the time. We have a small family of three and this slow cooker has made it easy to enjoy a home-cooked meal without taking all the time that traditional cooking does. We love it! We have used it quite a bit already and have not experienced any problems at all. We love the fact that it automatically switches to warm for those days that we both get caught up at work!
