Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart MCP-12 MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware SetCustomer Review: Stainless steel pan convert forever Summary: 5 Stars
I have had these for a week and was eager to put them to the test. The skillet gave a perfect golden sear on fish and chicken breast fillets. The sturdy non-warp surface of the cookware gave my pancakes a perfect shape, not to mention a beautiful color. I agree with other reviewers that say to keep the surface well-oiled. I didn't have a cooking spray so I just added oil and made sure to swirl the pan around so the oil covered the surface well. They key is also not to flip the meat before that side is done; other reviewers are right when they say the done side will come off the surface when it's good to go.
I found the handles kept cool in large part, and only started to become hot after the pan was on the heat source for more than 20 minutes - even then, the outer extent of the handle remained cool.
I was concerned that the pans were too small; the skillets and the saute pans are just PERFECT for cooking for one or two, but buyers cooking for larger numbers on a regular basis have to upgrade to larger pans. I don't see myself using the saucepans and the stockpot much, so on hindsight I might have simply invested in two sizes of skillet and one saute pan. But they all look nice as a set! And the trustworthy amazon delivery and the price drop convinced me to get them as a graduation gift for myself. :)
Customer Review: Great pans for a great price Summary: 5 Stars
An awesome set of pans. Very cheap for a multi-clad 12-piece set, and you're not sacrificing anything by going for these. I try to keep my eye out for underdogs -- Cheaper items that perform as well as their more expensive counterparts, and this is definitely one of them. I think the only detriment of these compared to All-Clad is that All-Clad has a copper core, which is a big difference, but unlikely to affect your every day cooking. These heat just as evenly, but they probably heat just a smidge slower. Also, these are dish-washer safe, unlike most All-Clad lines.
I was also thinking about getting the Emerilware set, Cook's Illustrated's top pick (Though, note that CI didn't test this set). I would definitely suggest these over Emerilware after feeling of them. These are more hefty, and there are many, many reports of the Emerilware melting over high-heat. And the types and sizes of pans you get in this set are more useful, for me at least.
Oh, btw, these ARE induction-capable!! I saw many sites saying they weren't, and maybe that was true of older versions, but it says right on the box that these are induction-capable! Nice to know that if I update my range, I'll still be able to use these awesome pans.
Anyway, a great buy! You can't go wrong.
Customer Review: Returned the Costco cookware, bought this, and couldn't be happier Summary: 5 Stars
I had been using some fine Belgian-made stainless steel cookware since the early 80's. It had been getting a bit beat up, and the plastic handles and lid-lifts were loose. In a weak moment two months ago, while wallking thru Costco, I bought their Stanless Steel cookware set. It works fine, but is quite heavy, and not very well polished. This last fact translates to more time needed to clean after every use. The 10" Pan didn't hold as much as my old 10" Pan, as the Costco Pan's sides sloped inwards so abruptly. And, I couldn't get over the fact that the Costco Steel seemed, well, a bit yellow, when compared to the Belgian Steel that had a bluish tinge. Over the next several weeks, I reasearched Stainless Steel Cookware, on Amazon and elsewhere. The Cuisinart seemed to be a consensus favorite, and since I could always take the Costco stuff back, I bought this set.
How do they compare? First, each item is lighter; the 10" Pan especially so. It also hold more in it, as its sides are more vertical. The steel is much more highly polished, and noticably easier to clean - as well as more pleasing to look at. Lastly, it is the proper color.
All in all, I'm very pleased wiht this cookware; and glad I spent the time and extra $50 to get this set.
Customer Review: Great product, super lids Summary: 5 Stars
I have nothing but positive feedback on the Cuisinart Multiclad Pro pans. I have had a set for several years now; they are priced right, and they work great ... nuff said. But I had to jump in and offer my perspective on the metal lids provided with the pans since I have read that some other reviewers are not fond of them. I think they are great! They are light without being flimsy; they fit the pans well; they are compact enough to store in a 'plate rack' that I keep in a cupboard next to the stove ... very convenient! Also, as I have bought other Cusinart pans to enlarge my set, I haven't had to worry whether the new pans come with lids of their own since the lids I already have fit the new pans just fine - good deal. I am not a fan of the glass lids provided by other manufacturers - they are heavier (not a big deal), bulkier and harder to store (big deal!). I have used glass lids before and would not go back.
One last thing (to establish my chops as an independant reviewer): I do wish the pans had a brushed aluminum interior rather than a mirror finish. The pans do show scratches over time, and I suspect that if they had a brushed interior they would show scratches a bit less. But having said that, they are a great pan, and perform very well.
Customer Review: Search and You Will Recieve! Summary: 5 Stars
I love to cook and was very frustrated by the so called non-stick cookware that I have purchased in the past. I think I have eaten more Teflon than is safe for a human.
I had stainless cookware in the past and with good cooking and cleaning techniques have found stainless cookware as easy to cook with and cleaning is easy if not better than non-stick.
While doing my research for a new stainless set, I came across a review site that was hard core pushing All Clad. I will pay the price for quality. They pushed hard for All Clad and then got an e-mail from a woman that bought this set of cookware. Her raves were so good they decided to test the Cuisinart set to All Clad.
Their experts found the Cuisinart cookware perform as well and also better in some points. My favorite is the rounded lip. You can pour liquid and sauces out of this set with all most no splatter.
I am totally pleased with this cookware. My only negative is they did not offer a set with the 12 inch pan and should include a cover when bought separately.
At 1/3 the cost off All Clad you can not go wrong with this set. I look forward to be cooking with this for a long long time. Quality made a great price!
