Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart MCP-12 MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware SetCustomer Review: Excellent Quality and Value Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this cookware set after doing extensive online research and reading multiple glowing reviews. I am not disappointed; these pots exceed my expectations. As suggested by the manufacturer, I haven't turned my stove elements on above medium-high heat and it really isn't necessary. The heat conductivity is great and liquids heat up to a boil even at medium-high. And, even though the pans are stainless and don't have a non-stick coating, I haven't had a problem with food sticking to the bottom. Tonight, I made Paella. The rice always stuck to the bottom of my previous non-clad stainless before. Tonight it didn't.
I don't use a dishwasher (don't have one) but clean up hasn't been a problem. I just make sure to soak the pots pretty much right after dishing out the food and they come out beautifully clean without me having to scrub.
I've taken the time to visit a couple of cookware stores and look at more expensive all-clad sets and I can't see any significant difference, except in price. The other sets are all much more expensive and this set is a fantastic value.
My only hassle was, that as a Canadian, I couldn't get these anywhere in Canada, nor ever get them shipped to Canada, and I had to ship them to a friend in the States and then drive over there to get them. Well worth it but a hassle none the less.
Customer Review: Beats the expensive options; best induction option! Summary: 5 Stars
We switched from pro-style gas to electric induction and most of our old cookware wasn't magnetic and therefore was unsuitable for induction use. After a lot of headaches and research, I ended up with this Cuisinart set. I was a little leery at first, having traditionally used all-Clad and Calphalon, but those fears were unfounded. In fact, as others have attested, this cookware is superior. The rolled lip makes pouring much easier, and the cookware is perfectly abusable (dishwasher, multiple daily uses, etc.) while being lighter weight than all-clad. And of course it's 1/3 the price. I wish they had a grill pan or griddle in this line!
My only complaint is the lid. With induction, a 2 qt pan of water boils in just over a minute (no joke -- I have timed it!) without the lid, so we don't use a lid to speed boiling. However, at any setting from about 5-10 (10 being max heat), the induction can cause the lid to vibrate and make a little bit of a racket. Because induction boils so fast, this is less of an issue than it might otherwise be. This is a minor nuisance for which I would have deducted one half star if Amazon allowed half ratings.
PS - For induction situations where non-stick is needed, check out Cuisinart Green Gourmet stainless. Make sure you get the line with the stainless exterior, not the black anodized, as only the stainless exterior is induction ready.
Customer Review: A Spectacular Set Summary: 5 Stars
My wife "bought" me this set after I accidentally ordered it in late July, (long story), but in the end it was a wonderful gift, one that I have been using repeatedly to repay her....with food!
There is something to be said for having tools that you love, and every day, I just can't wait to get these down off my hanging racks! Everyone who sees them remarks about how beautiful they are, and they really do perform wonderfully.
But then again there is an aAfrican proverb that says "a good muscian never blames the drum", but I tell you, playing with great drums is awesome!
I got the 12 piece set and will slowly add some of the other special order pieces, like the 12 qt stock and the 12" skillet, but in the mean time I have copper bottomed Revere Wear pieces that I will continue to use in their stead. They are much ligher than these Cuisnart pieces and much more difficult to keep clean...and I mean on the inside. The copper bottom is a whole nother story...but thanks to Bar Keeper's friend......
The only drawback to these pots and pans is cleaning the area around the handle where it meets the pot, its just not that easy, but hey, that's just splitting hairs. The are lovely!
The only other stuff I have is immaculately seasoned cast iron, I have a few pans and a huge Dutch oven...I need nothing else...Whoo Hoooo!
Customer Review: No regrets! Summary: 5 Stars
My nonstick pots and pans were on their last leg when I started looking for a new set- after replacing the nonsticks every 3-4 years, I decided it was time to upgrade and get something that might hold up a little better. I did TONS of research, including utilizing my mom!, and decided tri-ply stainless steel was the way to go.
After reading a bunch of reviews, the Cuisinart Multiclad Pro set had the best reviews- and the most, as well. I spent two weeks watching prices at every website and store I could find, and Amazon had by far the best price (mostly by $50 or more!).
The main drawback to this set was that I couldn't find it in any stores. I like to actually touch and feel things before I buy them, but I took a chance with these.
I've had the set for about a month now and I love it. I've been careful about using only wooden utensils, and about not heating at the highest temps. The set is fantastic- the only food I've gotten stuck was from frying chicken with butter. Next time I'll try oil as other users have suggested, but, even then, an overnight soak and a non-scratch pad took it off.
If I had to choose again, I'd definitely go for this set. It was my first over $50 set (I'm a grad student, so money is tight!), but it was well worth the money. I'm hoping this set will last me years!
Customer Review: Cuisinart MCP-12 Multiclad Pro Stainless-Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set Summary: 5 Stars
An outstanding collection of kitchen cookware. It looks and performs exactly like All Clad for about 1/4 the price. It cooks exceptionally well AT MUCH LOWER TEMPERATURES THAN YOU ARE ACCUSTOM TO. Because of the aluminum center/core, there is very uniform heat throughout the pot, including the sides. The long handles on the fry, saute, and sauce pans stay very cool. However, the handles on the 8 Q pot can get hot (because they are close to the body of the pot) while boiling with a gas stove, but otherwise are non-hot pad cool.
Don't believe the reviews about hard to clean, food sticks etc. It is &*(%. In my opinion these reviewers don't know how to use the cookware properly. If you are frying/brazing/browning, use a small shot of Pam (I have tried al types of oils, but this works best) and make sure that the temperature is ~ 25% less than normal. This works even for eggs and omletes, but again, use a temperature setting of medium-low rather than medium for egg dishes. Also, Bar Keepers Friend, as recommended in the users manual, is perfect for making the inner and outer surfaces shine. It is non-abrasive.
Fantastic product and great value. I bought the set for $218 on Amazon in December 2006. It is a steal! I have an All Clad 5Q saute pan, and the Multiclad Pro pan is equivalent at 20 to 25% of the price.
