Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart GTF Gold Tone Filter

Customer Review: Misinformation
Summary: 3 Stars

Though this may be an excellent product I should not have bought it. I ordered a Sanyo SAC-MST6 coffee pot and the Amazon website indicated that buyers of this coffee pot also bought the Cuisinart GTF Filter. But the filter is for a 12 cup coffee pot and the Sanyo SAC-MST6 is a 6 cup coffee pot. It does not fit. I gave it away to a friend of mine but was dissappointed.

Customer Review: With or without paper for taste?
Summary: 4 Stars

I just got this filter with new coffee maker - I use the richest, most expensive whole beans which I grind myself every morning - I have been using a paper filter with this gold tone permanent filter. The coffee is without flavor, no boldness, nothing - I will not use the paper anymore and see if I can get a decent cup by just using this filter. Any feedback is helpful.

Customer Review: Durable
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had this filter for almost two years now. I usually hand wash it, but it holds up to the dishwasher as well. The only complaint I have is that it has a tendency to get grounds caught in the bottom of the filter, where the plastic joins the screen. Overall, I've been very happy with this filter, and if it wears out, I plan on replacing it with another Cuisinart.

Customer Review: Something you should know
Summary: 1 Stars

I have a friend who owns a gourmet coffee shop and he talks (ad naseum) about coffee constantly. He says you should NEVER use a re-usable filter of this sort because coffee oils are not filtered out. They pass through, creating a dark slime in the carafe and an off-taste to the coffee. Only a paper filter removes these coffee oils, preferably unbleached brown paper.

Customer Review: Cuisinart Gold Tone Filter
Summary: 5 Stars

If this is anything like the original filter that came with my Cuisinart coffee maker, it will last a long, long time. I wasn't aware of how long I had had my coffee maker until I was checking the owner's manual for the filter make. The filter I am replacing is almost 9 years old. And for those that are new to using these type of filters, I gently handwash mine.
