Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart GR-1 Griddler Panini and Sandwich PressCustomer Review: Even better than expected. Summary: 5 Stars
It seems that you just can't go wrong with a Cuisinart product. We have a number of other products from that company and have not found a reason to give a single complaint.
It is actually better than expected - even after reading reviews on it. It's easy to use, it's fun to use and experience with, it's attractive to keep on your kitchen counter even though we mostly store it (and it doesn't take much room on its side), and you get a lot for the price you pay for.
I have already 'promoted' this to other family members who, by the way, are also thrilled with this brand.
I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone. You won't be disappointed.
Customer Review: Absolutely love it!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been in the market for a panini press for a while now and after reading all the reviews, I chose this one... I am SO glad I did! Received it yesterday and used it for dinner to make provolone, tomato & spinach on sourdough. It took all of 3 minutes to heat up (if that)and 2-3 minutes to cook up some thick sandwiches. Delicious!!! Crunchy on the outside, gooey on the inside... Isn't the biggest one I have ever seen but can fit 2 standard size sandwiches or 1 long, wide sandwich, that wasn't a huge issue due to how fast it took to get a sandwich grilled to perfection. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone in the market for a panini press!
Customer Review: I Use This a Lot More Than I Thought I Would Summary: 5 Stars
We received this as a wedding gift, and I figured we'd use it every now and then, but we actually use it pretty frequently. We love to make tortas with hot ham, turkey and cheese then throw on some veggies, avocado and what ever sauce we choose. The bread get nice and crispy on the outside since you don't put oil on it. Makes a fast complete meal that is fun too. We don't have a toaster yet, so I've been using it to toast bagels - just don't push them down too much. The only negative is that you can only do one big torta at a time. I keep meaning to do one of the desserts in the mini-cookbook, but haven't gotten to them yet.
Customer Review: Great Press Summary: 5 Stars
I bought my girlfriend the GR-1 and love it so much that I had to buy one for myself. Of course I had to upgrade to the GR-3 which is worth the extra $20.
The temp control and the removable plates are the only difference between the two, and I give both 5 stars.
I've been using them for over 6 months now and haven't had any problems yet!
Hint to future owners: All recipe books call for olive oil, but the smoke point is so low it gets your kitchen/house smokey after 3 sandwiches. I've been using clarified butter or canola in a fix which both work great, and don't smoke up the place.
Customer Review: So-So Panini Maker Summary: 3 Stars
Purchased this "small" panini press after my beautiful Breadman press got knocked to the floor and the handle pins broke.
Not impressed with this one. The top is too light for a good hearty bread. It would be prefect for a sandwich made with Wonder or Butternut type bread. If I didn't press down on it I would have had toast with a cold filling.
It's small. The cord is short. It's also in need of a locking device so you can store it upright when not in use.
Off to Ebay to see if I can find a replacement for my discontinued, broken Breadman press.
