On researching this food processor the Cuisinart customer service rep admitted that, whereas the older DLC series used BPA (Bisphenol A) free plastics the Elite series went back to using plastics which contain this plasticizer which is well documented for cause infertility and possibly other health affects.

We had decided to replace a 25 year plus food processor. After dragging our feet for at least a year we started searching for a replacement. The Cuisinart fp-12 was the perfect choice. Two size working bowls and many choices of blades foot the bill for what we needed. Amazon by far offered the widest range of choices and the best prices we could find.
We're very happy with this choice.

Its a "Tim the tool man" type of equipment...major power. The only problem is that when you think the top is connected and start the power, bam- the top flies off.
