What can I say: My Cuisinart 7-cup is a kitchen WORKHORSE!
I've owned it over 3 years, and it just keeps taking what I dish out at it. I wish this thing would just finally give out, because I want to upgrade, and so I keep throwing more and more stuff at it, but nope! It will not die. I've even tried to make double quantities of pizza dough, filling it up with 6 cups of flour, just to kill the motor (because I want to buy the new one and need an excuse). It just keeps right on going and going and going and...
So, this is a great first-time user model, or a fine replacement. 7 cups is a good size for the typical kitchen. The footprint is small, and the processor is simple and basic. It comes with 2 discs (shredder and slicer), and the main blade. This is all you really need, if I can be honest. You can do, pretty much everything a food processor needs to do in the kitchen, with these basic attachments: Shred, slice, puree, mix, blend, chop, knead, etc., etc...
For me, after 3 years of use, the bowl is still chip-free, the motor is tough, the blades are rust-free. The unit cleans up easy, it is all dishwasher safe, and I have had absolutely no problems or complaints at all.
This was the workhorse model about 3 years ago, and I think you can probably find the revamped 7 cup model, with the larger feed-tube, here online, for a competitive price. Because of price, and the fact that this model is not chrome in fact, but is instead more like brushed silver, I give it 4 stars. Check that out and shop comparable 7 cup models. DO feel comfortable sticking with Cuisinart, however. You need go no further then the big "C", for all your basic food processing needs.
