Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart DLC-2ABC Mini-Prep Plus Food Processor, Brushed Chrome

Customer Review: Absolutely love it
Summary: 5 Stars

I read several reviews on Cuisinart and other brands of small food processors, and figured I would go with this one (old food processor melted in the dishwasher and didn't chop very well),

1. Uses minimal about of pushes of either button to get food chopped up (about 3-4, if you cut food up into about 2 inch chunks)--however I pulsed a whole boiled egg with no problem

2. Super easy to clean! The housing unit does not get food on it when you are using it

3. Looks nice, has a good weight to it (not cheap feeling)

I have chopped eggs, onion, celery, tomatoes, garlic all with no problem. You get well blended, small bits for easy cooking. I have no complaints and would definately suggest to anyone.

Customer Review: Great for the price
Summary: 4 Stars

This food processor works very well, almost too well for its size. It is extremely easy to clean-up, however because of its small capacity, you have to be careful not to overfill it with anything slightly liquid or it will leak out the top. I wish the lid would seal better, but this seems to be a problem with any food processor. It is also plenty powerful, but you have to be careful not to over do it. I make a lot of homemade salsa, and I had to learn quickly just to "blip" it a few times otherwise I would end up with salsa soup.

Overall, you can't beat it for the price. I don't use a food processor for very many things, so having a cheap small one that works well and doesn't take up much space is perfect for me.

Customer Review: Average review
Summary: 3 Stars

I wanted a food processor that does not takes so much space on my counter top. I bought this Cuisinart Food Processor, it works fine for small portions, you need to process your food several times. Since it is a small cup, do not put liquid on it or just a few amount because it will get spilled out. If you chop or grind for too long you will smell something funny, like burning rubber inside the machine. Each time you take the cup off the appliance, you will see some spilled water on the base of the appliance, I had to clean it every time I take the cup off. If your purpose is to buy a small appliance with limited function, this is a good choice. If you want to do major job, maybe you will need a better processor.

Customer Review: cheap plastic
Summary: 1 Stars

I have owned a full sized Cuisinart for years and it has worked flawlessly. I had an inexpensive mini-processor that I used for 12 years before the motor gave out. The Cuisinart mini-prep looked like the perfect replacement. This replacement was broken within a week.

First, the brushed chrome is not actually chrome; it is plastic and it is the cheapest feeling plastic you can imagine.

Second, the bowl and cover were difficult to slide into place.

While the mechanism worked well, the clips on the lid snapped off on the third use of this machine even though the cover locked in place. It felt cheap and flimsy and it was. It is going back. It was a major disappointment.

Customer Review: The Best Little Chopper Ever
Summary: 5 Stars

This is about the fifth (or more) mini processor I've ever had, and it's the greatest! After I got this baby and tried it out, I took my old big Cuisinart (circa late '70's) off the counter and moved it to the back of a cabinet. Prior to this one I had been using the Cuisinart Mini Prep for about the last eight years and it was adequate. But when I tested the new Mini Prep Plus on fresh parsley, it chopped it as fine as the big one did. The same for onions which came out finely minced instead of pureed. The difference, I realized, is the chopping blade -- it's almost the same one as on the big models. It's no noisier than any other appliance and cleaning it is a snap.
