Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart DGB-650BC Grind-and-Brew Thermal 10-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Brushed MetalCustomer Review: Easy to Use Summary: 5 Stars
I've never owned a grind and brew style coffee maker before, but I've recently started enjoying freshly ground coffee beans and wanted to be able to make my own. The Cuisinart DGB-650BC is perfect for me. It was easy to set-up and its very easy to use - just add coffee beans, add water, and push the "on" button. Another plus is that the coffee in the thermal carafe stays hot for hours. I can brew coffee in the morning and by mid-afternoon its still warm (but the machine turns off immediately after brewing). The machine is also easy to clean. It's got one extra part to clean - the grinder at the top - but its easy to take out and rinse off in the sink. t also has an option for brewing just 1-4 cups, which is great if you are just making coffee for one. I bought my parents the same coffee maker for father's day and they both love it. The frequently drink pre-ground coffee, but you can turn off the grinder feature with one button. Highly recommend this coffee maker.
Customer Review: Pleasing to the eye but not the best built Summary: 2 Stars
I received this coffee maker as a Christmas gift from my dad this year. I wanted this coffee maker b/c I had just recently redid my kitchen and wanted a coffee maker that was stainless steal to match my appliances. My old coffee maker, a Krups which I had for over seven years, was still in great condition and just in the last years started showing signs of aging.
Issues I've had with this coffee maker are as follows:
1. Markings for the buttons are fading already.... only had this machine for 7 mos. that is just crazy
2. It does not pour very well.... I get more coffee on my counter top sometimes than in my coffee cup
3. Getting the lid on and off is not very easy... lucky I am still in my 30's and don't have arthritis
4. I don't think it makes as good a cup of coffee as my Krups
I make about 6-7 cups of coffee every morning 7 days a week to give you an idea on how much I use this machine.
Customer Review: Like warm coffee? Summary: 2 Stars
Just recently my Farberware electric peculator broke down. It made really hot coffee that rated an 8 in terms of taste. Although I was happy with it, I decided to look for another pot that made hot coffee that rated a 10. No chance. I researched the reviews for two weeks and came up with this pot. The coffee taste rates a 9 but unless you like luke warm coffee forget it. It's the first time I've had to nuke coffee that's how cool it came out of the pot. I might add that after nuking it, it was drinkable and didn't loose much of it's great taste but who needs to nuke their coffee after paying for a coffee pot to do the work for them. I am a very detail oriented type of person so don't think I didn't do right by this coffee pot, I did. I made sure the water was the right temp. going into the pot and I boiled water to put into the carafe so it was snuggy warm before brewing. Yet the coffee was just warm. Very disappointed. Returning to Bed Bath and Beyond.
Customer Review: It makes good coffee but... Summary: 4 Stars
There always seems to be a "but..." doesn't there? Anyway, we like this coffee maker but it seems a little overkill. We like strong coffee and typically buy the 2.5 LB package of Starbucks french roast at the Costco. We always had to go and get it ground at the starbucks into a "espresso steamed" ultra fine grind. I figured that this coffee maker would save us the step of having to go and get the coffee ground. Well it does that okay but we seem to need a 1/3 cup of beans for each 8oz mug of coffee brewed. Plus cleaning the grinder after each use and letting it dry is something of a pain. The area that you pour the water into is small and a little challenging early in the morning. That said, if you plan ahead, the timer works great. Last the grinder is fairly quiet and that is a good thing.
I think that it makes good coffee and if you are one of those grind 'em right before brewing types, and don't mind the cleaning hassle, this works well.
Customer Review: Love this coffee maker Summary: 5 Stars
I received this coffee maker for Christmas and was able to open it a few days earlier since we were going out of town for Christmas. At first I did not think I would use the coffee grinder as I already have a stand alone grinder, but, the grinder is so easy to use along with the coffee maker.
Clean up of the maker is very easy, it takes less than three minutes and that includes wiping the coffee maker down inside and out. It is very beautiful on the counter, and fits in well with the appliances that I have. The program feature is also very easy to use. I love that this model have the window on the outside of the maker so I can see how much water I'm putting in the maker. The last Cuisinart I owned did not have this feature.
It appears that Cuisinart read the reviews and improved this latest model coffee maker. I would recommend this model to anyone, as I simply could not be happier with it.
