Customer Review: Don't waste your money.

This coffeemaker has some serious design flaws. Unless you pour the water from the carafe VERY slowly, you can't avoid spilling onto the work surface. The problem is that the spout is virtually flat, and has no sides or slope to force the liquid towards the center, so it spills down the front of the carafe. Not only is this a problem when pouring hot coffee, but also when you fill the coffeemaker itself.
The lid is hinged in such a way that when you open it to pour in the water, the condensation formed from the last time you used it (in my case, from the day before) runs down to the hinge, and then down the outside of the coffemaker. Pouring water from the carafe into the coffeemaker causes the same spillage problem. This time water falls into the space that holds the coffee and filter, which then has to be poured back into the main heating chamber. Again, poor design makes this virtually impossible to do without spilling up to a tablesoon or so onto the heating unit (if you already had the coffee and filter in, it wouldn't be that much of a problem, but I like to fill the pot the night before, and add the coffee in the morning).
The ONLY way to avoid the spills is to pour the 4 cups of water over a 30-45 second period of time, to avoid overflowing the spout. Whoever designed this thing never used the prototype or they'd never have put it into production.
I was initially pleased that the unit comes with a switch that shuts the unit off after 30 minutes. Since I bought this coffemaker to use at work, I thought it'd be a nice safety feature. Unfortunately, that includes the brewing time, which takes up to 7-8 minutes. The steel insulated carafe doesn't provide any noticeable insulating effect, so the bottom line is, my second cup is usually cold about halfway through.
After using this thing for about a month, I'm ready to strangle the engineer that came up with such a poorly thought out machine. I can't believe it passed even the most rudimentary quality control tests. This is just shoddy engineering, plain and simple. Save yourself a hassle and look elsewhere.
