Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart DCC-2200 Brew Central 14-Cup Coffeemaker

Customer Review: Like everyone else, mine caught on fire...
Summary: 1 Stars

This is the third Cuisinart we've had in four years. We loved the first two, but they broke quickly (right after warranty expired, of course). So we bought this model recommended by a family member. It has worked well for 6-8 months and just the other morning performed just as the other reviewers have said. Started making a funny noise and then smoking terribly! My husband unplugged it and took it outside, but if we had not been close by (as we usually are not at that time of the morning), I feel sure we would have had a serious fire to deal with. I have reported this to Cuisinart, but so far, no reply. Do not buy this product!

Customer Review: So far, great!
Summary: 4 Stars

Like many others, we have had a number of coffeemakers over the years, with a range of prices and features. We're really pretty easy to please: large capacity, pause & pour, automatic shut-off. One of our major irritations has been coffee dribbling from a carafe while pouring. I read many reviews before this purchase, but what I like best is that it is the cleanest-pouring coffeemaker we've ever had!
We find the coffee easy to make (gold filter included, btw), and it's been consistently tasty. The temperature is hot enough. Easy to clean.
I really did not expect so much...but now I feel that I would buy this product again.

Customer Review: Great Warranty!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this coffeemaker in May of 2008 and used it heavily, minimum 2 pots a day, until it just quit. The warming plate didn't work one morning. I called service and they told me to decalcify the pot. I loaded it with water and vinegar but it didn't run through, so I contacted service again. They sent a new pot (I paid $10 for shipping) and I shipped my old pot back for the cost of UPS. Now I have a new (possibly reconditioned) pot that works great. They stand by their 3-year warranty. This coffeemaker makes the best coffee and the timer feature is wonderful when you like coffee hot and ready in the morning.

Customer Review: Great Coffee Maker - Short cord
Summary: 4 Stars

This model replaced a 12 cup Cuisinart that served well for almost six years of hard service. The coffee quality is good, the extra two cups is a bonus and a quality appliance although the controls are suspect if going to last.

My only disappointment is they shortend the power cord significantly so I needed to add a power strip to reach the same location on my counter. Cuisinart's reason for this: "...safety, so the consumer doesn't get tangled in the power cord..." This machine is close to $100; you would think a heavier and/or longer cord wouldn't break the budget or upset the corporate laywers?

Customer Review: Great coffee maker, even better customer service
Summary: 5 Stars

We've had several Cuisinart coffee makers over the years. They consistently do a great job of brewing coffee and we like the features that come with them. Our DCC-2200 recently bit the dust and I phoned Cuisinart customer service to see if they could help me with a replacement. I spoke with a real live representative in about 2 or 3 rings and she promptly researched my unit and offered to send me a replacement for a $10 shipping charge plus the return of my old unit. When a company treats it's customers that well, I'm happy to give them my return business and spread the good news to other potential buyers.
