This is the 6th coffee maker I've owned in three years, falling in the middle of the purchase price range. It has finally brought peace to my household, since I no longer spend the first five minutes of the morning wiping coffee puddles off the counter. I also appreciate the fact that Cuisinart included a gold filter with the unit. Furthermore, unlike my previous two coffee makers, this one's 3-beep completion alarm is not overly loud or obnoxious. This model's biggest drawbacks, for me, are the difficulty reading the internal water level gauge, and the fact that the lid can be tricky to reattach. I can live with those inconveniences, though, if the coffee maker continues to function properly and doesn't start leaking.Customer Review: caught fire

I loved this coffee maker until this morning! The coffee had been made about 20 mins when I heard gurgling and sounds like the pot was finishing again. When I checked on it I saw smoke coming from the top and back around the cord also had a burning smell--lucky I caught it before real fire started. I unplugged it and the smoke slowed and stopped. If I had not been near by my kitchen would have soon been on fire. I did an internet search and found out Cuisinart seems to have big fire problems and does not seem to want to admit it. I found reviews that decribed what happened to my coffee maker. Before you buy a Cuisinart coffee maker please read reviews! I am hard to please when it comes to coffeemakers and have tried just about all major brands. I am very happy with this particular one because of the larger capacity. I have a vacation home on the coast and enjoy entertaining friends and family and everyone loves a good cup of coffee. This is the Northwest, home of heavy-duty coffee drinkers! The 14-cup size is great, the controls are easy to use and it makes a very acceptable cup of coffee, nice and hot. The only thing I would change would be an external water indicator so it would be easier to see exactly how much water you are adding rather than having to look inside the reservoir. If you want to make a lot of coffee, this is the one for you!Customer Review: This Pot Rocks!!

I have worn out several coffeemakers and was less than satisfied until I got this one and man what a coffee maker. I have on hand at anyone time about 6 or 7 coffee's from around the world and mix and match beans randomly. This coffeemaker makes a perfect cup every time. I have not had one problem with anything including overfilling it. I also always put a paper filter under the wire basket which makes for a better cup of coffee without the left over sludge in the bottom of the pot. I would recomend this coffeemaker to anyone who wants a good hot cup of coffee. I chose this coffeemaker over the Cuisinart with built in grinder because of the hassel from these types of coffeemakers.Get it youl LOVE it.Customer Review: Worth it!

After trying the 12 cup Cuisinart, a Delonghi and 2 different Krups models we have fallen in love with this one. The water level indicator may be a slight drawback but since since we fill the coffeemaker from the pot it's no problem for us.
I absolutely love the larger capacity, we don't make a full pot that often but when we need to it's just right. It makes a great cup of coffee and it looks great on the counter, too.
I deducted one star for their failure to backlight the display. You'd think for a hundred bucks they would light the clock so you can actually see it. Other than that, best coffeemaker for the money out of all the brands we've tried.
