Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart DCC-1150BK 10-Cup Classic Thermal Programmable Coffeemaker, Black

Customer Review: Luke Warm Coffee!!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

Luke warm coffee. I made four cups of coffee using the 1-4 cup setting and it was still luke warm. I contacted Cuisinart and their response was to send it back to Amazon due to defective heating element. We will see what happens this time around.
Amazon was great about the return. I just printed my return label and they are sending me a replacement next day.
UPDATE:
Recieved new coffee maker next day from Amazon. The coffee was luke warm at best. I drank my first cup directly after it finished brewing!!! This might be the coffee maker for you if you drink your coffee black and don't mind not having a hot cup of coffee. I would highly recommend staying away from this brewer!! It states in the manual that you may need to run hot water through the pot before brewing to ensure a hot cup of coffee. I placed hot water in the pot, after filling the coffee maker with cold water, poured out the hot water and then brewed the coffee. Still luke warm!!!

Customer Review: Fresh-tasting unburnt coffee!
Summary: 4 Stars

I've been using this coffee maker for about three months now and am completely satisfied with the joe it brews. The stainless carafe does a great job keeping coffee hot and the lack of a hot plate keeps coffee from becoming burned. The coffee tates great, too.

The coffee maker is tall, like many others stated I need to pull it out from under the counters to prepare coffee, but I don't consider this to be a problem. Also, my husband wakes a good 45 minutes or so before I do on work days and the beeping cycle-end alert never wakes me. (And I get to have yummy, hot, unburnt coffee when I wake!)

I'm not giving this product five stars because I do run into the same difficulties others mentioned pouring water into the coffee maker and having to remove the lid to pour the last cup of coffee. Also, the water level marks are hard to read. These don't affect the quality of the coffee, though, which is definitely five star-caliber.

Customer Review: Lasted One Year; Former Loyal Cuisinart Customer
Summary: 3 Stars

This is the second Cuisinart coffee maker I've owned in the last five years. The first model (which had significantly less plastic and more metal) lasted four years. This one made it a year before it developed major leaks. To be fair, we used this coffee maker every day, sometimes twice daily. My kitchen is loaded with Cuisinart products: Blender, Griddler, Espresso Machine, Ice Cream Maker, and a couple of gadgets I don't remember their names. I used to be proud that our kitchen counter had only quality Cuisinart stuff displayed. But I think Cuisinart's quality has rolled downhill, taking its customer service along for the ride. Although this coffee maker boasts a three-year warranty, it's limited and you'll need to deal with Cuisinart's rude customer service reps and pay to have it sent back. The coffee maker made good coffee and I liked the convenience of the thermal carafe.

Customer Review: Great coffeemaker, awesome value!
Summary: 4 Stars

COFFEE.. that 6AM, 9AM, 2PM ritual that we all love.
In researching for a coffeemaker for my girlfriend and me, I bought this nearly two months ago. We LOVE it. The thermal carafe keeps the coffee warm for HOURS without wasting electricity with a typical coffeemaker's hotplate, or reheating in a microwave. BIG TIP for keeping the coffee hot for hours- that works if you brew a half-pot or more (6 cups or more). Brewing just 2-3 cups in the morning for us, the carafe cools down faster. Meaning- when I drink my coffee an hour after it's brewed- it's not piping hot if a small batch was made. This is not a big deal whatsoever.

Controls are easy to use, timer works great, and the little 'chime' once the brew is ready is just right.

Easy to clean, easy to use, classy and not breaking the bank. Thumbs up.

Customer Review: Love this coffee maker
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my second Cuisinart coffee maker purchase. I almost cried when I broke the glass carafe on my first one. I decided to purchase another with the thermal carafe while I shop ebay to find a replacement carafe for my first which I will keep in or motor home.
I love this coffee maker! It brews a great cup of coffee quickly. The thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot and because its not sitting on a hotplate the last cup is as good as the first. The unique lid design keeps the contents hot without the use of any type of button, lever or twist design to pour the coffee...just lift and pour. The opening on the pot itself is a little small (probably another reason the coffee stays hot in the pot), not a big deal for me but someone with larger hands may find they need to employ a bottle brush or dish mop to clean, again not a big deal.
