This coffee maker is excellent so long as one's shoulders are strong enough to raise the water container on top of the machine and to steady the container sufficiently to pour the water accurately into a relatively small water container when the unit is on the counter. For a macho male, no sweat. Some, if not most women, will not be able to do this easily as they are not as tall and/or strong. The timer-related electronics are easy to set up and use. Very easy to fill and clean the coffee filter. The unit is a bit on the large size so measure carefully if space is limited. The thermal feature is excellent! I am so happy to be able to make coffee again! We had a simple coffee maker but the largest problem for me was that my wife kept breaking the glass carafe. Needless to say I was getting a little irritated that I was having to replace it. Hopefully she won't find a way to break this one. :)
I have found that it can be awkward to pour the water in the reserve like so many others have mentioned, but it isn't a big deal.
It does keep the coffee hot for hours without leaving it on the hot plate.
Cleanup is simple but then my wife does the cleaning. I am so lucky huh? :)
Simply we are happy with this product.

I am MUCH happier with this coffee maker, than the one I replaced ( A Cuisinart Grind and Brew). It is so easy to use, as opposed to the old one which was VERY time and labor involved. Anyone looking to buy a Cuisinart coffee maker should heed the many warnings of buyers who tell of the time involved washing the grinder after EVERY use with the Grind and Brew. Buy an inexpensive grinder if you prefer whole bean, and purchase this model.
The only negative I have of this model, is that the water fill level is not clearly marked, and transfer of water by means of the carafe is hindered by the cover. Otherwise it is a great, fast machine!

I have had a gring-and-brew thermal coffeemaker for more than 4 years. It made hot coffee and held it hot longer than any we had. Grind portion of old pot was always a little tough to clean, and it was loud.
If any of you have found many coffeemaker pots tend to drip as you pour, this one is your answer: It pours fast, and it does not drip.
New DCC 1150 operates just as well, without the need to clean up after grinding. PS: the old thermal carafe is still functional with new pot, so I now have two carafe's for use with larger groups.
Only complaint: Would have liked it to still be stainless sides, oh well...

We've been trying out various coffeemakers with thermal pots and had found none, until this one, that kept the coffee steaming hot at 4 hours. We had a Black and Decker that you hold your cup up to for the coffee and we realized that having that on for 4 hours, twice a day, was just using too much electricity. Then we were at the home of a friend and she had this one - I tried the coffee after 4 hours and there was still steam! Perfect coffee maker and great coffee too. My husband and I both recommend this if your looking for a thermal pot coffeemaker. Now I don't have to run back in the house to make sure the coffee pot is shut off!u
