Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart DCC-1100BK 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Black

Customer Review: Great Coffee
Summary: 5 Stars

I searched all over and read many reviews before deciding on this coffee maker and I haven't been disapointed. What I really want is a great cup of coffee that is easy to make and this machine does just that.

The one I bought from a dept store was missing the instructions and I didn't want to return it so I gave it a try. It was easy to figure out the clock and programming. The Cuisinart web site has manuals online so it wasn't any problem. I love having my coffee ready and wating for me.

The small water opening isn't a problem because the pot doesn't drip when you pour. My other machines had pots that leaked leaving a mess on the counter. I don't have any messes this week! Buy this if you want really good coffee with no fuss programming.

Customer Review: What a waste of money
Summary: 1 Stars

We bought our first one of these in December 2009. It made really good coffee, quickly, and was easy to program. We loved it. But the pump died just six months later, in June.

So we went back for another one, figuring maybe we'd just got a lemon. The new one lasted THREE DAYS. The clean cycle light is always on, but no matter how many times we run it, the danged thing won't make coffee. It's going back this weekend.

I had a Braun that made good coffee for 8 years. Since then, I've had a Mr Coffee that lasted less than a year, and two of these Cuisinarts, lasting 6 months and a week respectively. I'd welcome any suggestions for a replacement.

We can put a man on the moon. Why can't we make a decent coffeemaker?

Customer Review: Good mid-range coffee maker
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been using the coffee maker for about a month now and I am completely satisfied. For the first time I have a carafe that does not leak or spill coffee all over the counter when I pour a cup of coffee. The coffee is nice and hot when you pour it into your cup. I have not had any problem with the filter collapsing on the sides but I do use a paper filter inside the gold filter to help keep any grounds out of the coffee.I have found all the functions easy to use and easy to program. Although the "ready" beeps at the end of the brewing cycle are not very loud, I never had a coffee maker that beeped to let you know the coffee was ready so it is still a plus! For the money, this is the best coffee maker I have purchased and I highly recommend it to others.

Customer Review: Great coffee maker for the price
Summary: 5 Stars

This coffee maker was a nice step up from the usual Mr. Coffee machines we've used in the past. It brews a full pot quickly and it tastes good. We appreciate the beeping notifications when the pot is done brewing as well as when it's going to automatically turn off. From the other reviews we were a bit concerned about the water input area - but no worries - it is ample in size and once you pour into it a few times it's a piece of cake to fill without spilling. Also, the fact that the filter holder can't sit upright on the counter is not a problem - simply dump your ground beans into it while it's already sitting in the machine. Best of all, no drips or spills from the pot when you pour coffee into your mug!

Customer Review: Rusting warmer plate.
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought the coffee maker in January 2009 to replace a Krups, which I had for many years. The Cuisinart had a great review so I took a chance. The coffee maker worked fine, but the warming plate started to rust. I called Cuisinart, as the coffee maker was still under a 3 year warranty. They told me that the rusting warmer plate was cosmetic so they would not repair it. I still had my receipt so I returned the coffee maker (a year old, without the box) to Bed Bath & Beyond. They took it back, no questions asked. With the credit, I bought a different( higher end model) Cuisinart and will be more carefull when cleaning the the warming plate. It the warming plate rusts again, I will go back to Krups.
