This unit is wonderful!

I give 4 stars instead of 5 because I felt the description is a bit off for how many this unit can feed.
It is perfect for 2 adults and a child. I know I scan the 4 stars before 5 stars myself.

IF your family needs more meat then the average chicken or 5 LB Tri-Tip can provide you will need to get 2 of these.
Honestly I would.

Clean-up is that easy. The price of $145 is a great deal. I feel it will pay for itself in no time.
It fits under my standard cabinets.

I made the most amazing 5 lb * Tri-Tip in the basket, chicken is a breeze.
I also cooked a Jenni-O Turkey breast 7 LB to perfection. The kind that has the legs and wings removed and is a breast only.

Ham and even hotdogs on skewers were fab.
Oh I made a pear dessert along with my sons hot dog lunch.

It says 8 lbs but 7 was pushing it - parts of meat being to close to the heating element.

I am a seasoned cook, but by no means a chef but instinctually know what temp will be needed to get the results I want.
Plan on playing if you are new to cooking, but don;t worry about it - it seems hard to ruin food with this.
The golden rule FOIL on parts browning to quickly. A great way to learn to cook great food, imo.

This is PERFECT for bachelors! You can make a chicken and eat left overs for a day after or toss in a single steak.

I don't think I would go as far as set it and forget it - if you prefer a crispy skin then you will need to put foil on the parts of the chicken that stick out more, closer to the heating element - to brevet burning.

Tri-Tip: based on about 5 lbs
This is the best way to do red meat regardless of cooking method, imo

Low sodium soy sauce poured to cover the bottom of thingy meat came in
Just cover you don't want the meat fully submerged - only the bottom sitting in it

Then on top the meat pour Worcestershire (yeah I used Google to get the correct spelling, seriously can anyone spell that?) Sauce- no need to waste just pour a spill on top and spread with your hands into meat.
Sit for 30 minutes

Remove meat from marinade-like situation and pat dry with paper towels.
Get large grain Kosher salt and cover both sides.
This is to leech out excess moisture from meat - you this method to make the best steak in a cat iron skillet too. You can change marinade but this is really the key to a great steak. The salt leeching out the moisture from the meat.

I find it best to put lots of paper towels under the meat during the salt process, it helps to put meat on wire rack as well. Meat, on top paper towels on top wire rack. Do put paper towels under rack to catch juices.
A very thick 5 lb Tri-tip will be left salted for 20 - 30 minutes.

THEN rinse WELL under water. Pat dry with towels again.

I suggest a no salt seasoning; Costco sells a great all purpose organic with no salt.
But you can be as creative as u want and rub it in - just don't use salt.

Microwave some butter in garlic (the already minced store bought is fine)
Baste steak with butter. Shove into basket.

Cook at highest temp (425) to get that wonderful seared outside. Takes about 30 minutes.
I usually baste with more butter after the first 15 minutes.
