I highly recommend this product. I looked for crock pots at discount stores like Wal-Mart and even though they have models that have the same bowl/quart size with removable ceramic pots, there's no comparison to the quality of the Cuisinart. For example the ceramic pot is thicker than the cheaper models and the container that heats the pot is constructed better with stainless steel.
I researched the Rival 6.5qt which is comparable but if you notice the Cuisinart model's pot goes into the heating box/container and I think this helps heat the pot better and retain the warmth after its done cooking on set to "warm". I know the timer is only 10 hours and others are longer but I wouldn't judge this product on that if you can. Personally the Cuisinart model looks really cool and when we have guests over and its on the counter they always comment on it because it looks like it belongs in a commercial kitchen.
It may cost more than other comparable models but I would definitely recommend it because of the quality of the construction and its performance, heating, cooking, and keeping warm. I think you'll really like this product if your looking for a 6.5 quart crock pot but be warned, be prepared to cook.

Very disappointed. I bought this for my wife for Christmas and am returning it today after 4 uses. I bought it for the Cuisinart name and quality as well as the fact that it had a timer which would allow us to leave it on while at work and it would automatically switch to the warm mode when the time was up. Good thing we decided to try it out on our day off before using as intended. This thing cooks way too hot. We have used nothing but the warm setting and food/liquid is boiling within 2 hours and continues to boil the entire time. Needless to say the food is way overcooked and/or scorched on the bottom due to the liquid being almost completely boiled off. The steam and moisture comes out all around the lid, defeating the purpose of a slow cooker. After the first use we have cut the recipe times by 1/3 and still no good. You could probably cut the recipe time in half, cover the pot with aluminum foil before putting the cover on, and stay home and keep a watchful eye on it and get satisfactory results. Not me. The construction quality and retractable cord are great, the only positive I can add.Customer Review: Slow Cooker Success

I waited years to find the right slow cooker. The closest thing I came to one before was my crock pot of 20 years ago. It's just great to be able to put everything together in the morning (and that is still a lot of prep work) and be able to serve and enjoy an absolutely delicious meal at night when you feel, after a long day, you deserve only the best. If you are in your home all day, beware of the aromas from the chicken cacciatore. You will think you are living next to a Cucina in Italy and you will be ravenous by the time you sit down for dinner! Now that I finally have one, I can't imagine living without it.
The product is very easy to care for. The black ceramic insert easily lifts out for serving and cleaning. The stainless steel fits in perfectly with my kitchen appliances so I leave it on the countertop and no one even notices it. I don't think I could be happier with another product.

I chose this product because of the brand so I expected premium quality even though it's made in China. The cooker looked and worked wonderfully for about 3 years. It started functionally erratically and so I removed the cord-winder and found that the electrical connection between the cord roller and the main unit had gotten so hot that the insulators and connectors were charred and the plastic near them melted. It seems we would have had a fire if the now exposed wires had come in contact with the very nearby steel body of the cooker. If that happened, an electical shock would also have been likely! Maybe this is a fluke but the insides of the unit appear to be constructed as "cheap" as possible. Very common with appliances today but not what I expected and thought I paid for with a Cuisinart!Customer Review: Avoid this Slow Cooker

My wife and I have enjoyed all the other Cuisinart products so when we were looking for a replacement for our old Rival Crock Pot we decided we wanted this one. Bad idea. Since getting it shortly after Christmas we have used it a sum total of one time. Why ? Because the ceramic cooking pot cracked on the first use even though we followed all the cooking and cleaning directions in the manual. It might have even been cracked from the get go. So we tried to get a replacement but they were back ordered for a month. So after a month we figured we'd get the new pot. No such luck, we were notified again that the pot would not be in stock for another thirty days. That would indicate to me a problem with these ceramic pots. So we are returning this Slow Cooker, our old Rival still works like a charm.
