I purchased this Cuisinart immersion hand blender after my Braun gave up the ghost after 25 years. This hand blender works better than my old Braun, which I thought was great. I mainly use it to blend breakfast smoothies, little water, little 1% milk, frozen fruit and protein whey. There are no little chunks left in my drink any more. My smoothies are now very smooth. She loved it. I think this small appliance looks a lot more expensive than it really is. The reason I got it is because it had such high reviews on Amazon. The general public is usually pretty right. The item was originally discounted at ~$25 when I got it, but I think even if that were double the price it would still be worth it. Just compare this item to similiar hand blenders. This is a great for preparing salad dressing, pureeing soup, making hummus, and even grinding coffee beans. I found this superior to a standing blender because you can move it around, even in the tightest corners, and it's much easier to clean. The only criticism is that it's not as good in grinding hard nuts such as peanuts, almonds, etc. After using it, this way for a year, I wore my SmartStick out, but I made sure to buy another one ASAP!Customer Review: breaks in a few months

I have tried these twice already (because the store replaced the first for free). Firstly, the threads for the connection wear out really quickly (leaving you wondering why there is black dust in the unit), and the plastic connector also breaks easily. I've had two of these already and they both broke within a year. Don't bother (unless you just want to use it 2 or 3 times and then throw it away, as in that case, it works great).Customer Review: No more standard blenders

This is an amazing product. I will throw my blender in the garbage and just keep this hand blender. It saves space, it is easy to use, and it is amazing to clean. The standard blenders are nasty, you cant clean very well. This is so higienic, and portable, and the best thing is you can use directly in the pot for sauces and soups. I also use it for my morning smoothie. LOVE IT. And Cuisinart is an amazing brand. Highly recommended.
