I bought the Cuisinart Csb-76 handblender after checking other reviews.
I use it primarily to puree baby food. It works great. Very sharp. Easy to use. Purees well. Easy to clean because the bottom half detaches and is submersible. Only downside is that it's best to rinse it immediately after using it or else it's hard to wash out the food from near the blades without cutting one's self. The cup that comes with it is just the right size to make an entire icecube tray worth of baby food.

I got the SmartStick and it was great for all my soups, smoothies, and sauces, but one day, I thought I had clicked the motor half into the blade half, but apparently it wasn't in well enough because it completely stripped the plastic bit in the motor half. When I called an appliance repair shop, they told me that they do not make a repair piece because it was made in China. SO I had to pitch the whole thing as it was now useless. My advice, make sure to really connect the two pieces without any doubt.Customer Review: Mmmm ... Soup

This little blender makes great soup. I used to throw out tons of unused vegetables from my fridge, now I make soup. Throw in some mushrooms, stock, salt, cream, and this blender ... mmm ... cream of mushroom soup. Celery, onions, stock, salt, herb, this blender ... mmm ... celery soup. Gazpacho, pumpkin, whatever, put it in a pot, boil it, and blend. This stick blender makes it so easy that I'll never buy canned soup again. I think the can opener is more of a pain to use than this blender anyway.Customer Review: wonderful item

So far amazon has the best deal on this hand blender, inexpensive and no sales tax. A must-have when making baby food. This blender is great for making purees for my 6 month old daughter. Tip: Use a regular blender to blend fruit and vegetable puree prior to blending it with a hand blender if you want the smoothest puree. Light in weight, easy to handle, very easy to clean, and does not take up space in kitchen. i recommend this cuisinart smartstick to everyone who's planning to buy a hand blender.Customer Review: Exactly what I needed

I had gone through 2 blenders in the past 4 years and was looking for something that I could use for blending up soups. This lil' guy does that and so much more! Instead of grating onions, I now blend them using my immersion blender. I make pesto with it, I make blended coffee drinks, it's great. The only "complaint"? I wish the cup it came with was bigger. I would prefer to make 2 blended coffee drinks at a time instead of 1 but when I need to do that I usually grab a pitcher and blend it in that.
