Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart CSB-76W SmartStick 200-Watt Immersion Hand Blender, White

Customer Review: Great for smoothies
Summary: 5 Stars

I've only used this item a few times, but I'm very impressed with it. Our blender broke and this is what I bought to replace it. Have you ever made a milk shake or a smoothie in the blender. The blades spin around and mix for a bit, but usually all of the stuff you're trying to blend ends up above the blades and they just spin around doing nothing. So you jam a wooden spoon in there and try and knock all the stuff down. After awhile you finally get everything mixed up. Well, this hand held Cusinart blender kicks the old blender's butt. In seconds, it turned my yogurt, frozen blue berries, sugar, and milk into a killer drink. Wham!, done. And clean up was a breeze. The part that does the work comes away and a quick wash off and it's done. And another great thing, is it hardly takes up any space.

Buy this thing and throw your blender out.

Customer Review: broke after less than 2 year of use, warranty useless
Summary: 1 Stars

Before buying this blender I had owned a Kitchenaid hand blender, which gave out after 3 or 4 years of use. When I went to buy a new one the Cuisinart model was cheaper, so I figured I would give it a try. I don't think it's ever performed as well as my Kitchenaid model, and the plastic cup it came with started cracking and leaking after a year or so of being put in the dishwasher. The plastic cup my Kitchenaid blender came with is still going strong. But I was still reasonably satisfied with the Cuisinart blender until it died today, after a year and 8 months of using it once or twice a week. Cuisinart says they have a 3-year warranty but the fine print is you have to pay to have it shipped back plus send them a check for $10 to cover shipping the other way. It's not worth my time! This time I'm going with a Kitchenaid.

Customer Review: Why did I wait so long to buy this?!
Summary: 5 Stars

A fabulous cookbook, Sunday Soups by Betty Rosbottom, inspired me to order this Cuisinart SmartStick Immersion blender, and it is every bit as useful and easy to use as reported by a reviewer of that cookbook. I must confess that I already own a much more complicated one from Williams-Sonoma that I just never take out of the cupboard, while this feels much more intuitive and sits easily and beautifully right on my kitchen counter, ready to go to work pureeing soups right in the pot, without scarring the pan or needing to pull out the big Waring blender. A breeze to clean up and fun to use! I actually made guests give it a try! :-) Highly recommended, not only for homemade soups but also for smoothies, frozen cocktails and more. I'm going to give the other one away! Thanks, Amazon, for the good price!

Customer Review: Awesome torque, strudy design
Summary: 5 Stars

This replaces a lower-end (Sunbeam, I think?) blender that comes with all the gadgets--a little food processor bowl, measuring cup, and a few other useless gimmicks--that started making a horrible squealing sound after only a year of occasional use. I think a plastic part somewhere inside had failed and the axle was grinding up against the plastic shaft.

This one is a whole different animal though--it's all metal in the parts that need to be (the chassis is plastic, but feels good in the hand), has TONS of torque and feels like you could drive a nail with it. I'm seriously considering selling my countertop blender-- this handheld one can tackle frozen fruit without blinking; not sure how it'll do with ice cubes. At $30, it's an absolute steal!

Customer Review: Faulty Design Dooms This Product
Summary: 1 Stars

The immersion blender by Cuisinart is by far the worst product the company makes. I am surprised they haven't pulled it from the market because it is designed to fail.
The problem is PLASTIC: it will not stand up to use, even over a short period of time. Those who have not used the product long will no doubt give it a glowing review, but it won't be long before the plastic wears down and the device will no longer work.
Indeed, the "chopper" attachment which came with my purchase NEVER worked. Then the whisk gave out and finally the chopper.
So I would advise that you avoid this product. The company is also not very helpful in responding to complaints I guess that are totally embarrassed by the poor quality.
