Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart CSB-76BC SmartStick 200-Watt Immersion Hand Blender, Brushed ChromeCustomer Review: stick mixer Summary: 5 Stars
This is a real POWER mixer. How did I get along without it. Has my highest
praise. A great gift item.
Try this recipe:
Garlic Soup
Into a covered skillet place:
one head of garlic unpeeled
10 baby carrots diced
one potato diced
5 pieces of cauliflower
Put plenty of EVOO over all the veggies and the garlic.
Put in oven at 300 degrees for 1 hour.
Remove from oven -let cool- squeeze garlic out of paper skins and discard skins.
Put all into a 2 quart boiler with 2 cups chicken or beef broth and simmer 10 minutes. Using your stick blender reduce everything to a pureed soup. Note if you want a thicker soup reduce the amount of broth or add a cup of cooked rice and puree. Add salt and pepper---Enjoy!Optional:1/2 tsp cumin and 1/2 tsp cayenne.
Customer Review: Wonderfully easy to use Summary: 5 Stars
I received this as a Christmas present from my son, and used it the next day to make what turned out to be a wonderful tomato bisque. I was able to do everything in a single pot, without moving it to a blender. The SmartStick has a blade surrounded by metal casing at the bottom. The blade is like the blade on a blender - it grinds up everything, including tomatoes, onions, garlic, peppers and other stuff. The only thing that took a little figuring out was how to move the stick to get all the things to go to the blade. Basically, I had to take it off the bottom of the pan and move it around a bit. Once I started it became obvious what to do.
After use the stick comes apart and the bottom goes into the dishwasher, the top gets wiped off. Simple.
And my family ate all the soup and would have had more.
Customer Review: Our new favorite kitchen gadget Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He's a diabetic and makes a lot of protein shakes, and was getting really tired of washing out the blender everyday.
The SmartStick is so cool! It's much quicker to use than a blender, and I'd say that it handles ice much for efficiently as well. There is a small learning curve, but once you've got the hang of it there isn't much to it.
As far as clean-up goes, you just press the button to separate the blade shaft from the motor and then put it in the dishwasher. It's also very easy to wash by hand, so long as you rinse it well right after using. I haven't tried it for soups or sauces yet, but I can't see it being very difficult.
Now I'm making protein shakes everyday, too, which, as an aside, really help control my appetite.
Customer Review: better than a blender! Summary: 5 Stars
I've always sworn by a blender, it's just what I grew up with. Tried an immersion tool before, but it wasn't very good quality, so I chucked it up as "these things don't work". Went through a couple more blenders over the years, including recently a hamilton beach. When I bought a cuisinart keurig to replace my "keurig keurig" machine, I was convinced it had higher quality. When my blender died from making some hummus (smoke came out the back), I decided to go back to an immersion tool. Even though this has less wattage than most blenders, the fact that you can move it around makes all the different in the world. Also, I'm digging the easy cleanup (I always dreaded cleaning the blender after I was done). I don't think I'd ever go back to a blender.
Customer Review: easy to use and cleans up nicely Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great hand blender. It makes up smoothies in seconds and has a nice strong motor to blend up frozen fruit with no lumps. The blade detaches easily from the motor for quick easy cleanup. In addition, it is stylish and nice to look at, as well as being lightweight and comfortable in your hand. I've only owned it for a month so so, so I can't comment on its durability, but so far I'm very pleased with this product.
One potential downside is that it's kind of loud and my husband usually wakes me up when he uses it in the early AM before he goes to work. When I use it during normal hours though, with typical background noise going on around me, it doesn't seem unusually loud.(Maybe I'm just a light sleeper at 5AM!)
I reccommend this product.
