Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart CSB-76BC SmartStick 200-Watt Immersion Hand Blender, Brushed ChromeCustomer Review: Pretty cool gaget. Summary: 5 Stars
I've only used it a couple of times so far, so I can't attest to it's longevity. I've had the same Osterizer for 20 years, I kind of doubt this thing will last like that. Part of the reason may be because you end up using this thing more, even if it does only have one speed. Making a smoothie in the blender is such a chore. Of course I mean cleaning up. With the smart stick you just throw some fruit, juice, yogurt, or whatever in a glass and bam you're done. Clean up pretty much consists of running the end of it under the tap. I recommend unplugging it first. I have also used it to puree' tomatoes, either fresh, or right in the can. The shield does a good job preventing splattering, but it's kind of large and doesn't fit down into a lot of drinking glasses, so if your mainly buying it to make smoothies, it may not fit into most of your glasses.
Ps if you stick your hands by the blade to clean it, make sure it's unplugged. They may call it smart stick not safe stick.
Customer Review: haven't put it away yet! Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this after seeing Emeril make a soup where he used an immersion blender. Having only used a regular blender in the past for pureeing soups (and avoiding making them because of the hassle!)I ordered this immersion blender. I LOVE IT!! It literally has been sitting on my countertop ever since...I use it everyday. It makes easy work of my morning shakes (right in the included plastic container) despite using frozen bananas and other frozen fruits. And I use it at least weekly to make one soup or another. It cleans up easily and is nice looking too. I've read where some complain about the "cheap plastic teeth" at the connection of blades to handle, but if you attach/detach carefully (and always use the special button for it) I don't foresee any problem with the construction. I can't believe I've waited this long to add an immersion blender to my kitchen repertoire...I doubt I'll be pulling out that cumbersome, loud, hard-to-wash freestanding blender anymore!!
Customer Review: A New Favorite Toy Summary: 5 Stars
I gave this to my spouse as a gift and it's VERY popular in our kitchen. Every time she uses it, she raves about how much she likes it and how easy it is to use. She loves it for making soups. This little immersion hand blender has made pureeing soups a much easier job and now we get to have creamy homemade soups more often. She makes asparagus and mushroom soups. I thought we needed a cordless model, but changed my mind and chose this one based on reviews I read on Amazon before buying. It was a good choice. I'm very happy that such an inexpensive item is doing exactly what it's supposed to do. It works perfectly for the job we need done.
The immersion blender is much easier to use for soups than a food processor or blender because there is no issue of transferring the soup into another container to blend it and then transferring it back into a pot. It saves time and is easier and safer to use the immersion blender. There is less clean up, too.
Customer Review: Breakfast smoothie without the usual clean-up hassle Summary: 5 Stars
So happy with this product. Throw some frozen fruit and yogurt in the cup, jab it with the wand for a few presses of the button, and voila! Your healthy completely smooth creamy blended breakfast is ready. Rinse the removable half of the wand in water, leave it in the sink, and you are off to school or work! When you come home later and catch up on dishes, you will find it is as easy as cleaning a fork or spoon to get the SmartStick ready for the next day's use. I CAN'T say the same for my blender which takes forever to dismantle and is waaaaay too bulky for a simple morning smoothie. Do yourself a favor and get this for quick simple blends. If you need to mix batter, or do heavy cooking - this can get you by if you are patient enough to let the motor cool off - but you are better off with a traditional blender for the biggies. Get this for the easy quick stuff. And its no vita-mixer. You can't just throw in un-chopped fruit. So be realistic.
Customer Review: Can't live without it Summary: 5 Stars
I recently quit smoking and have been on a mission to eat healthier as well. I began making smoothies to drink on my morning commute in place of the old habit of coffee and cigarettes. After about two weeks of lugging the blender out each morning and then tearing it apart to clean up, I decided a stick blender was exactly what I needed. I am nothing but happy with the Cuisinart. It chops the frozen fruit better than the counter top blender ever did, I have not found a single chunk in my smoothies since using the Cuisinart, the counter top blender left chunks so big I couldn't get them through the straw. The best part about this stick blender though is the clean up. Basically, there is none! After blending you just run the stick under some hot water for about 30 seconds to rinse it off, then throw it in the dish drainer to dry. I don't care if this thing only lasts a few months as others have said, I will get another when the time comes.
