Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart CSB-76BC SmartStick 200-Watt Immersion Hand Blender, Brushed ChromeCustomer Review: A Must Have For Soup Lovers Summary: 5 Stars
Santa brought me a Cuisinart CSB-76BC SmartStick 200-Watt Immersion Hand Blender for Christmas. I wish he had thought of it years ago! I just made soup using it. It is so easy to operate. You can have it out of the box and into your soup pot in 5 minutes. I love the pulse feature that allows you to completely puree a mixture or leave some chunks remaining, if you prefer. If you are worried about flying food particles, splatter, or damage to your cookware, don't. Those things don't happen if you follow the very simple operating tips. Before I received the hand blender, I transferred soup mixtures from the saucepan to a blender and back to the saucepan. Not anymore. All the preparation steps can be completed in the saucepan. And, the hand blender is so much easier to clean than taking the old blender apart and trying to get the blades clean. There are recipes included for smoothies, guacomole, sauces, dressings, etc. that I can't wait to try. A special beaker comes with the hand blender making the preparation of those items easy. Amazon.com provided Santa with free shipping on this item.
Customer Review: Fantastic! Summary: 5 Stars
This hand blender is fantastic! It's small to store in a cabinet, works great and is a cinch to clean!
I bought the Cuisinart SmartStick and also a Cuisinart 15 piece personal blender (like the Magic Bullet). The SmartStick was way cheaper, more compact and works every bit as well. You don't have to worry about making sure mini-blender lids are on tight before you turn them upside down and it works great in any size cup, pot or bowl.
I am on a protien shake diet and the SmartStick works wonder to smooth the protein powder into water or milk. Using a spoon, the protein ends up lumpy and gross. I put the powder and liquid in a plastic cup, a few short presses of the SmartStick and presto!
To clean the SmartStick, you just press a button at the back of the stick and the blender piece detaches. I dishwash everything, but this is so simple just to rinse off after I use it that I don't even bother with the dishwasher.
I'm sure the SmartStick will come in handy for a million things. You can't go wrong with it!!!
Customer Review: This Is A Cool Tool Summary: 5 Stars
I got this stick blender because I have a 4 year old smoothie addict and I got tired of cleaning out the big blender a couple of times a day. This thing is great - it makes a perfect smoothie in no time. It's plenty powerful and handles any fruits (even apples) with ease. I haven't used it for sauces and soups as the other reviewers do because I don't know how to make any, but it makes a killer smoothie. The bottom part (the business end) is all stainless steel and detaches easily for cleaning. I don't do this. I just run it in a cup of warm, sudsy water without detaching. The handle is plastic (I wish it had been metal) but it has a nice ergonomic shape and the power button is well placed. One caution: this is not for kids to use! Unlike those hand held beverage "whippers" that look similar, the blades on this thing are wicked SHARP! Really! Also, read the instructions before you use it. Be sure NOT to turn it on until the blades are well submerged into the food or you'll be cleaning food off the ceiling the rest of the day. (Ask me how I know!)
Customer Review: Substantial blender does the job Summary: 5 Stars
This is the first such blender I've owned, although I've wanted one for some time. And it is wonderful -- easy to use, easy to clean, and it does a great job pureeing soups or veggies in the pot.
It's heavier than I'd have guessed, a solid hand-feel, yet very easy to operate with its convenient switch. Cleanup is a snap, literally, as the blade easily detaches for washing. The body is easy to clean as well. I love the stainless steel exterior.
I've used it for pureeing black bean soup -- what a joy! -- and also liquifying fresh tomatoes while in a pot. It doesn't splatter, you don't have to wash up several different dishes/pots in order to smooth out a soup or sauce, and it's easy to do the whole pot at once. No more dragging out the big blender, transferring small amounts of hot soup into it and back to the pot. Just plug in the handheld, immerse the stick in your pan and blend away.
This is a very reasonable price for such a handy appliance and prime shipping makes it even better.
Customer Review: Big disappointment Summary: 1 Stars
We bought this item from Amazon last October. It stopped working in February, even though it was barely used.
We wrote to Amazon about this, hoping to get a replacement, as less than six months had passed since the purchase date. However, they replied saying that the item in question was sold by a third party, dealing through them. We then wrote to the third party, and they also refused to take responsibility for the faulty product. They suggested we should write to Cuisinart. We did this, and we didn't even get an answer from them. When we wrote to Amazon again, they said there was nothing they could do.
Because the whole experience was very disappointing, I personally do not recommend this blender. It may be that we got a particularly faulty one, and they are ok in general, but we never got the chance to find out whether this was the case, because no one of the three parties involved did anything to solve the situation.
Our take home message from this--- NEVER buy through amazon again.
