Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart CSB-76BC SmartStick 200-Watt Immersion Hand Blender, Brushed ChromeCustomer Review: Works like a charm! Summary: 5 Stars
In a word "This-is-a-great-blender!"
This Cuisinart CSB-76BC SmartStick is my 1st immersion blender. I used it to bring a batch of lentil soup (with yummy plum tomatoes) to a smooth consistency. Boy can this thing blend! I made enough soup for 10 and the blending job was done in under 15 seconds! I used an up and down motion, created a gentle vortex and voila! Soup's on!
* The blender snaps into 2 pieces for easy storage and clean up was easy. (Just 'blend' warm water in the provided cup to clean the blades, and wipe the shaft with a damp paper towel)
* It's not too tall for use on the counter as persons have noted with the KitchenAid KHB100OB Hand Blender, Onyx Black
* It's hefty and feels solid but not too heavy; nor it it particularly noisy. In fact it's far quieter than my regular stand Oster blender!
* It's a 'one speed' blender (as far as I can tell). The on/power switch can be pulsed however.
Hey, I'm no master chef, but this blender seems pretty good to me!
Customer Review: Worth having, love the quick smoothies Summary: 4 Stars
Its got its pros and cons, but I'm glad I have this in my kitchen and use it almost once daily.
Pros:
-Easy to clean, a quick rinse of the blade unit under warm tap water is usually enough!
-Powerful enough to blend thick chunks of frozen fruit, all my soups so far
-Convenient to use, easy to attach the blade
-Money put into the engine and blade(I hope) rather than into flimsy attachments you rarely use
Cons:
-A bit unwieldy for me, but I'm fairly petite (5'2"), I have to try and use both hands, which is awkward because there is only one button which you have to keep held down in order to operate it. Sometimes very awkward, especially with hot soups - splatter danger... not much of a problem with smoothies
-Really buzzes and vibrates alot in my hand, but I guess this is to be expected from the motor
-Just about aesthetics, but the casing is Plastic, "brushed chrome" refers only to the finish on it, which still doesnt look like real brushed chrome. The blade part is stainless steel though.
-the cup is useless except for acting as a measuring cup
Customer Review: Great kitchen tool! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this hand blender to make a cream of carrot soup that I had seen in a recent issue of my Southern Living magazine. My husband said that a regular mixer/blender would not give me the results I would want and that I needed one of these blenders. I compared several of these products and settled on this version because of the Cuisinart name and the great pricing. It arrived sooner than expected and a couple days later I used it in making the soup. The product directions and tips were great, and my soup turned out perfectly and delicious! The texture was amazing. I just made the soup again over the weekend while my in-laws were in town, and my mother-in-law loved the soup and asked about the blender. So, I think I will be ordering another one as a gift for her. The only thing about the blender is cleaning it. It comes apart very easily so you can wash it; however, I recommend rinsing very well right after using so you don't get any dried particles up under the blade area where it is hard to reach. Otherwise, I absolutely love this blender and can't wait to find other recipes in which to use it!
Customer Review: Powerfull and clean Summary: 5 Stars
This thing is powerfull, easy to use, and easy to clean. I am completely satisfied with this purchase. I was amazed the first time I used it and I now look for recipes that I can create with this. It is an enjoyable experience.
Edited for additional information on 14 October 2010:
After using this hand blender heavily, it developed a high pitched grinding noise when running. To fix this and restore the original operation, just squirt a small amount of WD-40 down the inside of the shaft. Run the hand blender for a few seconds in the normal, upright operating position while the WD-40 works into the bearings. Once it reaches the bearings, the noise will immediately disappear. Try not to use too much WD-40 as you don't want excess oil leaking through the shaft into the food. I'm attaching a picture of me squirting the oil in the product images so you can see where to apply the squirt of WD-40. Customer Review: Make Smoothies Accessible and Easy! Summary: 5 Stars
I read all of Amazon's reviews of the Cuisinart Smartstick Immersion Hand Blender and I compared them with the reviews of other comparable products. I am so happy with my choice to purchase the Cuisinart Smartstick. Now, my children can have smoothies and shakes every night and all I have is a two minute clean up! I used to shudder when they asked for smoothies since for me, the predominant image conjured by their requests was a big blender with a rubber ring inside and a tight grip that I had to struggle to undo. Then I'd have to stick my hand in toward the blade just to be sure it was clean. Additionally, the smoothies rarely came out good. They would leak into the base of the blender, pour out with chunks of fruit and ice amid the liquid and the whole mess just didn't seem worth it. Now, I just pour the ingredients into the container that comes with the Smartstick and with no mess, we have perfect shakes and smoothies. As my husband would say...bingo, bango, bongo...shakes are served! I am thoroughly enjoying the Cuisinart Smartstick and have already recommended it to friends.
