Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart CSB-76BC SmartStick 200-Watt Immersion Hand Blender, Brushed Chrome

Customer Review: Excellent (inexpensive) tool for frequent blenders
Summary: 4 Stars

Most people probably do not need an immersion blender. But if you're reading reviews online, you must have some use, so I highly recommend this.

Easy to use, feels sturdy and safe, and although I've only blended a few things (fruits, veggies, pudding), it's worked well.

Best feature: It's easy to clean. I hate assembling my regular blender, using it for a few minutes, awkwardly scraping food from the glass canister (leaving a lot behind), and then disassembling it and cleaning every little part. This cuts down mess substantially, and you can blend in your preparation or serving dish, you waste a bit less food.

Customer Review: So much easier than a blender for many operations
Summary: 5 Stars

I have wanted one of these for years and finally got it. It is one of those products that you ask yourself how did I get along without this. It is a Cuisinart so it is strong and powerful and well designed. With the long cord I can reach over to the stove and blend or puree or chop right in the pot which is great for hot sauces or soups. And I can limit the time so I do not have to make a completely smooth puree. It is a snap to clean and I can quickly go from one pot to another very efficiently. I always choose Cuisinart first because I have been happily using the brand for 30 years. I can recommend this item without reservation.

Customer Review: Very handy!
Summary: 5 Stars

I use this blender mostly to make soups, where, to trick my kids, instead of thicken the soup with flour/corn starch, I blend some of the veggies/potatoes/beans/meat with some of the stock and pour it back into the soup. It works great, and on top of it, I can do it even in the pot, it doesn't scratch it! I also used it to make some slushy with frozen fruits and it does a great job at that, too! I used it to crush ice, too, even though it's not recommended, and I think it *is* challenged at that, but win so far. ;) Since there's the five of us, the cup is of no use when blending, it's way to small. I only use it for measuring.

Summary: 5 Stars

Although I have never owned a product like this before I am quite familiar with Blenders, Processors, and the like. This product is WAY beyond them. My first attempt to use the SmartStick involved a thick Ham and Bean Soup, which included solid parts of Pork Back Fat and, of course, Solid Ham parts. The back fat I retained for a richer flavor. I fully expected to have to remove these fat pieces to complete the Puree of the mix. Well, I forgot to tell that to the SmartStick! Within a flash everything in the 5-quart stockpot had been perfectly blended to the ideal base. Bottom Line...I don't know how to Live without it anymore!

Customer Review: product cheaper at costco ($20 + free attachments)
Summary: 3 Stars

I almost ordered this item from Amazon, but I read some reviews on this Amazon page about a nearly identical hand blender at Costco, so I went over to check it out. My rating here is based on price, not on the product. I did end up buying the Costco one today. It came with what appears to be this same blender (totally different item code though), a whisk attachment, and a chopper/grinder attachment. Here's the best part: from now until Jan 30, it's 10 dollars off at Costco for a total price of $19.99.

I love Amazon, but if you really want this blender, I suggest you get it at Costco with extras and savings!
