Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart CSB-76BC SmartStick 200-Watt Immersion Hand Blender, Brushed Chrome

Customer Review: mixed feelings on the mixer
Summary: 3 Stars

IT seems a little fragile when you use it under pressure; mixing thick things. The blending shaft comes off and can be cleaned in the dishwasher which is nice. that is very convenient and safer because less risk of a wet electrical appliance being plugged int.-- no more trying to avoid getting water in the motor or cutting up my fingers during hand washing. I just hope that the Cuisinart is as durable as the Braun. I bought this to replace a old hand blender which died after nearly 2 years of using it.. The Cuisinart blends just as well and has several practical advantages. It is much quieter. The outer housing is chrome-colored plastic but the part you hold is stainless steel, unlike most models which are all plastic except for the cutting blade.

Customer Review: Can't live without it
Summary: 5 Stars

A lot of gadgets in my kitchen are expendable, but I really couldn't live without my Smartstick. Especially if you have a baby, and would like to make good, wholesome baby food at home, you_need_this_tool. That was the initial reason I sprung for it, but I use it for soups, pureeing sauces, smoothies, etc etc- let's just say that it's rendered my blender useless. No bulky blender jar to wash, no little components to assemble every time, no fussy transferring between pot and blender jar - this makes your life so much easier.

I have been using mine for about a year now. It's still working as good as it did the first day, and looks in as-new condition. The blade is totally dishwasher safe and hasn't discolored at all. Great purchase.

Customer Review: Cheesy plastic faux-metal housing
Summary: 4 Stars

Got one from this site about a month ago. So far it's been used to make baby food, cream soups, and "froth" milk for lattes. It does fine chopping smaller chunks of food, but doesn't work well to aerate liquids (as suggested in product literature) no matter how shallow or deep it's submerged. The blade assembly snaps off the motor handle easily, but the cheap plastic housing and button make me worry about it breaking w/in the year. As with most other Made-in-China items, the "brushed stainless/ metal" finish of the motor housing is actually plastic; had I known, I'd have just gone with the usual white plastic. The included plastic blender cup is nice for smaller jobs. For the price I was expecting a little better manufacture.

Customer Review: Awesome.
Summary: 5 Stars

I am writing this review because I decided to buy this one after reading previous reviews. This hand blender is awesome. I blend everything in a big cup to make "meal replacement" shakes. I'll throw in oatmeal, protein powder, frozen strawberries (or any other fruit), carrots, etc - this powerful little sucker has everything into a liquid within seconds, can't even feel it going through frozen solid strawberries or raw carrots. Blades are SHARP! I learned this the first time cleaning it, used to have to clean around the blade with my finger on the old one I had - not with this. The bottom section popping off is a HUGE help when cleaning. Hot water and it is clean in 5 seconds. Go get this if you need a hand blender.

Customer Review: Blade Broke first time - stopped mashing second time
Summary: 1 Stars

I oredered this a few months back and used it so much - it really worked well - I would have rated it higly but when it stopped chopping well I figured I used it too much (6 months or so)and I ordered another and shortly after the blade broke inside the soup I was making for my baby. If I hadnt found the broken blade they would have swallowed it!!! I dont know if it was a one-off or what but that sure is dangerous. I havent seen a credit to my account yet, I returned the item.
Wait it gets better... I ordered it again (I am editing my initial review) because the next one I got rotated but didnt mash... so I guess I am done with it. WHile it works it works well but when something goes wrong it goes awefully wrong
