If you're going to be using this for broth or oil fondue cooking go for it. There are a lot of good things to be said for it. Unfortunately for chocolate or cheese the metal is too light gauge for effectivrly dispersing the heat as others have pointed out. 4 out of the maybe 6 times I've used this the choc or cheese hasn't heated evenly. This past Thanksgiving it (or I) ruined a bag of milk chocolate fondue. I jury rigged a double boiler and that worked perfectly instead. So again, for cheese or chocolate- move on to another choice...Customer Review: Easy way to make fondue

I bought this a while back from Amazon. I read many of the reviews here on Amazon before deciding to purchase this unit. We have been quite pleased with the easy of use. We have used it quite often in the past 6 months. It heats quickly and evenly, it cleans easily. The only drawback is the short cord, but even if the cord were longer you still have a cord. I am extremely happy with fondue that we make in the pot. I would gladly serve it to friends and family. I hope you will enjoy this fondue maker as much as my family has.Customer Review: Great Fonue Pot

Cuisinart means quality. Used mine for three years with no problem...bought one for my parents since they like mine so much. Cleans easy and holds a ton. If anything it is too big, but that is not much of a negative. I like the fact that the heating element is magnetically connected to the power cord. That way if you move it suddenly it will not bend the element or break the cord. The cord is a bit short. A short extension cord would be needed to take the pot to a table if you wanted it to continue to warm its contents.Customer Review: Not just for fondue!

I purchased 2 of these units for a dinner party I was throwing. I was sick of using sterno pots and heating units because of the inability of controlling the temperature of the food. Voila! I have been saved! I use one of the fondue pots for keeping the black beans warm and another for the cheese queso dip. They are FANTASTIC! Even and controlled heat without any burning. I got rave reviews and many asked where they could buy them. I will be buying AT LEAST 2 more for our next party! I would recommend in a heartbeat!Customer Review: Fondue is fun and easy!

My Cuisinart fondue pot just arrived. A couple of reviewers warned that it was not to be used with an extension cord, but Cuisinart has apparently revised directions. As long as the cord can support the 1000w pot, it is safe to use. I have a very heavy duty cord, 1625w, that I use with my iron, and this will work with the fondue. I am looking forward to recreating the fun we had 35 years ago, when I was single, with friends and fondue. I have always had great results with any Cuisinart appliance in my kitchen.
