Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart CFO-3SS Electric Fondue MakerCustomer Review: Fast heating, easy clean up Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this model based on the Cuisinart name alone, and I have not been disappointed. We had guests over for our first try of this unit (probably foolish), and I was extremely pleased with how quickly the pot got hot. Using a pretty standard Emmenthaler/Gruyere fondue, I was forced to keep the thermostat down near 2 in order not to have a bubbling cauldron before us. I do not doubt that oil will get to 375 degrees F in a hurry.
Clean up was almost laughably easy. The non-stick interior was slightly easier to clean than the exterior, but both were trivial. I like this fondue pot and can hardly wait to give it another try.
Customer Review: Cheese/Chocolate Summary: 5 Stars
I did a lot of research on fondue pots. Have eaten at The Melting Pot countless times, asked lots of questions... I chose this pot because of the reviews. This pot keeps a regulated temperature perfectly! I made a chocolate fondue - absolutely no problems. I also made a spinach/artichoke cheese fondue. I had one issue with it. Definitely could have been an error on my part, but I never could get the cheese and the broth to completely mix. The center of the pot would be the right consistency, but the outer edges were pure liquid. Again, it could be the combo of cheeses I used or something, cause the chocolate worked excellent!
Customer Review: Great Little Entertainer Summary: 5 Stars
I researched this product as well as others that were comparable and a little cheaper. So far, it has been great. The fondue pot is durable and the forks are sturdy. I used it for a dinner party and it went over very well. The instruction manual is easy to read and includes recipes, cooking tips, and cooking temperature recommendations. Although the recipes don't include a serving size, I would estimate it to be about 6 because there was a little too much left-over for a serving for 4 people. It was easy to clean and dishwasher safe. I would completely recommend this product to anyone looking for an entry level fondue pot.
Customer Review: THROW OUT THE 70'S STERNO CANS!! Summary: 5 Stars
We just finished our annual New Year's Eve fondue and I'm throwing out my out old fondue pots with the sterno cans. This heated up in less than 10 minutes, kept the oil up to temperature, and was just all around great for the fondue. Cleanup was a breeze and the pull-away cord is a great safety addition. In fact, I'm ordering another one for our next party. Cuisinart has again come up with a winning appliance. I recently replaced my old toaster oven with a Cuisinart Toaster/Convection oven and couldn't be more pleased. They will definetly be the first place I check for any more small electric appliances I may need.
Customer Review: Way too short. Summary: 3 Stars
As most of the earlier reviewers have mentioned the electrical cord provided is so short as to render the fondue pot unusable without an extension cord. But, the instructions state that an extension cord should not be used with it! Of course everyone is going to ignore this bit of warning. The real concern would be using an extension cord that is not heavy-duty enough. But use of an appropriately heavy-duty cord will give your fondue meal or party an interesting industrial look.
Other than this electrical cord flaw, we really enjoy using this product, yellow heavy-duty extension cord and all.
