Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart CFO-3SS Electric Fondue MakerCustomer Review: WAYYY Too big for two. Pretty, but has serious issues... Summary: 3 Stars
We were borrowing my in-laws 40 year old fondue pot before we received this. I definitely prefer that one (Waring) to this one.
Good
1) Heats very quickly.
2) Very large capacity which is good if you have 4+ adults
3) Looks nice
4) High quality non-stick makes cleanup easy
Bad
1) Rubber feet are VERY fragile. One came off and the exposed screw scratched the table
2) Heats unevenly
3) Too big if it's just the two of you. Also with such a large capacity it takes 2 packages of cheese to get enough fondue to dip - but that's far more than 2 people would normally eat.
4) This thing is designed to boil several pints of oil for oil Fondue so it's way too powerful for cheese. As a result it cycles on and off, intermittently overheating and then cooling off.
5) Cord is way too short. It says you're NOT supposed to use an extension, but who has an outlet within 16" inches of their dinner table?

Customer Review: Beautiful but faulty Summary: 3 Stars
I did an immense amount of research before purchasing this fondue pot. I wanted to be able to do cheese, oil, and chocolate fondue. I received it and it is a very nice fondue pot. The cord is short as some have stated (really short but I expected it from previous reviews) The forks were a black plastic with dull colors to distinguish between users.( I thought for such a nice Cuisinart fondue pot it would come with better forks but not a necessity)I used the pot once for a cheese fondue. We did not keep up with stirring it so it did stick to the bottom, but! it came off in one swift motion as with any non stick pan. I washed it and put it away. However, I looked at it a couple of days later and the bottom of it had peeled off! Around the circular edges there were spots were the material there was gone. I returned it since it peeled on the first use I did not want to be stuck with it after my 30 days. Amazon was very helpful in assisting me with the return and returning the money. I truly loved the fondue pot and wished it worked.
Customer Review: Worth every penny... Never going back to sterno again!!! Summary: 5 Stars
If you like fondue, but find Sterno fuel a pain to use, not to mentioned potentially dangerous... you will love this fondue pot... Just plug it in, turn the knob to the setting you desire and put in the make fondue! Couldn't be easier!
While the power cord is rather short, just get an extension and all is right with the world... And for those concerned that someone tripping over the cord could cause a big mess... forget it... The cord has a megnetic connector that holds it to the thermostat, which incidentally unplugs from the pot itself for cleaning, If someone were to trip over the cord, it just comes undone and all you have to do is set it back in place and the magnet reconnects it... Brilliant!
Oh, and the non-stick surface is great... Those old ceramic fondue pots were a chore to clean... Just wipe this one out with a soft sponge with soap and water and your done!
Yes, Fondue is back and this pot could keep it here to stay this time around!
Customer Review: The Seventies have gotten an Upgrade! Summary: 5 Stars
The Cuisinart Electric Fondue maker is not your Mama's Fondue Pot, but your Mama would be happy cooking with it! It was very easy, even with the small extension cord (probably designed to have in the middle of an island in a large Kitchen or breakfast bar) We have a very old tradition of Fondue for Christmas Eve/Yule and we used the cubed steak. I would say the trick to not being frustrated at its heating rate for oil is to pre-heat the oil before you put it into the fondue pot, and use the fondue pot to just maintain the temperature. That was a little trick I didn't know before, but might be why some people who reviewed this product might have been dismayed. I thought it performed like a champ, and I loved the electrical vs. the napalm jelly sterno we used for years, (narrowly averting disaster and counting the children's fingers after every use) I can't wait to try chocolate for Valentine's Day! Key Party anyone? :)
Customer Review: Confident Fondue-ing and Quick to use! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this the day of a New Years party and I loved how EASY it was to use! I read the short manual before heading to the party and prepped the pot. When we arrived I was able to melt the chocolate and ingredients right in the pot and it was ready in less than 5 minutes!
The skewer rest works great and the temperature control is easy to use. I love the magnetic cord for safety. After seeing many varieties of candle-burning fondue pots I didn't like the risk of burning the fondue. I was impressed at the control I had adjusting the heat on this electrical pot and I was able to leave it on low which kept the chocolate dip-able throughout the evening. I'm actually looking forward to trying a broth or oil fondue recipe next which I was hesitant to try before. This was worth the extra money I spent and is a perfect kitchen gadget for a true chocolate-lover like myself!
