Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart CEC-7 Egg CookerCustomer Review: false advertising lousy design Summary: 1 Stars
Be fore warned. This egg cooker is not what it says it is. I would have returned it and demanded my money back except it seemed like such a hassle to do so. It claims to have an automatic shut off, which was an essential feature for the egg cooker I wished to purchase. It is not even close to an automatic shut off. What it does is automatically make a yucky noise when the eggs are cooked so a person can run to shut it off. To add insult to injury, if you do not hurry to shut it off, it begins to cook the eggs a second time. What a piece of junk!
Customer Review: Great little machine! Summary: 5 Stars
If you love eggs but don't love cooking them (or overcooking them, as in my case), you'll love this little machine. It's an easy, clean way to cook soft-boiled, poached or hard-boiled. As to the woman who complained about the auto-shutoff, I would remind her that she should read the very simple instructions. It clearly states that you need to shut the machine off!!! In fact, it says it twice. And the alarm for telling you your eggs are done is plenty loud. I heard it through a closed door. You'll love this baby... well worth the money.
Customer Review: Not as good as West Bend Egg Cooker Summary: 2 Stars
I got this because it looks nicer than the white West Bend egg cooker, but so far it's been disappointing. My West Bend egg cooker lasted for two years. When it finally gave out, I bought the Cuisinart. So far, I've cooked dozens of eggs and have yet to find the right balance for the perfect soft boiled egg. I got the perfect egg every time with the West Bend one. With the Cuisinart, if i cook it for soft boil, I get raw egg white in the center. Put it to medium, and the yolk is solid. Just can't find the perfect in-between.
Customer Review: Worst Egg Cooker on the Planet Summary: 1 Stars
I'm sorry, I just purchased this and it's a nightmare. Water leaks all over the place, I've burned myself 2x with the steam coming out the top, inside gets all nasty and disgusting, 'poacher' is useless because it's so flimsy. The water leaking is the worst - we have to either wrap it in paper towels or put the thing in a pie pan to catch the water. I'm throwing it out as soon as I can buy a different one. It's awkward to store -- the cord system is awful. Much chintzier in reality than it looks online. A waste of money.
Customer Review: Disappointing Poacher Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this egg cooker specifically for poaching 2 eggs. I used large, farm-fresh eggs. Whatever combination of water and timing I tried, I never got a perfectly cooked poached egg. The Cuisinart instruction book is confusing in its layout - specifically page 5. I called Cuisinart and after much back and forth, it was determined the eggs I used were too large and the directions were for MEDIUM-sized eggs. If considering this machine, be aware you might have to sacrifice the eggs you want to eat.
